I also meant to say I'm still having issues with my Nova T 500 - about a two seconds into live TV in live preview mode I lose audio and video stutters for about a second before correcting itself.

If I don't use live preview I find after about 2 secs of live TV I get that 2 seconds repeated before it corrects itself.

I don't experience any such issues with other software and my HVR3000 doesn't suffer from the same issue.

Looking at the picture, its got to be either your video card or video decoder causing that.
Quote:2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - Default DirectSound Device
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD8)
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - CyberLink Demux (PDVD8)
2008-04-06 15:01:40.375 VERBOSE - SOURCE
There is nothing special in the being used for playback. I thought we might see some unexpected directshow filter, but no. Its just using the cyberlink filters and your video renderer and audio renderer (there is no GB-PVR developed components being used). I would have suggested trying the Overlay renderer, but you've already done thate. I'm not really sure what to suggest.

OK - maybe will upgrade the video card drivers or as another poster in this thread said, print it out on canvas and sell the picture! But I do have another recourse - just record the shows and watch them with PDVD8 since that works fine. I just won't have live TV but I never use that feature anyway

Thanks for the help

OK - just to see if it's a specific machine problem installed PDVD8 and gbvr on an old laptop I had lying around (Toshiba M100 which is a Pentium M 1.2GHz). Hardly the type of machine that can do DVB-T playback.

Interestingly PDVD8 plays the test TV1 file fine but it's a tad jerky (not hard to understand). And surprise, gbpvr also plays the file fine (no more jerkily) and has sound in sync.

So it looks like I have to clean out the rubbish on my PVR to see what the problem is since clearly there is nothing wrong with gbpvr and the patch to use PDVD8.

Or maybe I pick up a USB DVB-T USB tuner and use this machine for DVB-T broadcast recording Smile

Just to add my 2 cents - I just upgraded from an ATI x300se to an Nvidia 9600GT and cpu utilisation while playing H264 has gone from 80% to under 10% and plays much better as a result - So for those looking for a cheap upgrade, rather than throwing out your board and processor get a 8xxx or 9xxx series Nvidia card (Assuming you have PCI-x not AGP - with AGP you are probably screwed!).

I've also just installed PowerDVD 8, the updated Nativeutilities.dll and added the entries to config.xml and I have to say things are looking up. A recording of Shortland street from TV2 (duh) plays back superbly and the WAF was quite high once I showed her the difference between live normal TV and the high def stuff she suddenly noticed just how good it looked (before a comparison she didn't think it was any better!) - BUT - My other TV1 test recording (my DVB-T card is currently not in my Lounge pc, I'm still in testing phase) plays perfectly too, but TV3 recordings don't play, I get one frame and it stops - I *THINK* I'm on the LATM audio version of TV3 (I picked the first TV3 channel not the 2nd one?) - How do I tell what audio its using?

Can you post your config.xml file? I can't work out how to add the powerdvd8 codec.

I recall sub saying that the temporary fix he has implemented only uses the Cyberlink PDVD8 codec for playback, not live viewing where it still uses the Monogram codec. One thing you could try (out of interest) is to go into config and unclick the option to show live TV as live. This I think always records the signal and then plays it back instantly. That way you would be using the Cyberlink codec rather than the Monogram one. Of course to be able to stop/start/rewind live TV you need to be recording the signal and playing it back anyway

Well the problem I have is with playing back recorded tv. I can't get gbpvr to use the cyperlink decoder to playback recorded tv.

It would be nice to be able to use the cyberlink decoder for live tv as the sound quality with the monogram decoder is not quite up to standard , but i realise it is not possible yet.
