This is a limitation of EVR. It cant accept aspect ratios with values outside of the 0,0,1,1 range.

Thanks for the extremely fast reply Big Grin

Attached are a clean set of logs, it is possible it is using the audio renderer as the clock and something else is contributing to the crackling but that seems unlikely.

So the aspect ratio problem also applies to the HorizontalZoom and VerticalZoom? Mediaportal seems to get around it somehow (it can both crop and do center cut type ratios), oh well it is a small issue.

Ah, that function only applied to video file playback, not live tv. Try the attached patch. Post the logs again if it doesnt work.

Just incase anyone is still following this thread, I finally found some free time when the HTPC wasn't recording for an hour in the evening so put the new video card in the lounge pc last night. Before GBPVR couldn't play the HD recordings, PVRX2.EXE would be using VERY high CPU and I'd be lucky to be getting about 1 screen redraw every couple of seconds, since installing the card CPU doesn't go above 9% and the video plays very well. I wouldn't call it perfect yet but its pretty damb good. I'm using VMR9 FSE at present - In EVR I only get 3 seconds of audio and no picture and then it stalls with HD files. I'm now having major audio sync problems but I think most people are at present.

So basically - a $165 video card makes a MAJOR boost in H264 playback performance - Also the Gigabyte cards are passive cooled with heatpipes so nice and quiet!

The best solution at present is the newly released PowerDVD8 which supports AAV-LATM audio is discussed towards the end of this thread incl a patch

I've been running this since Sunday and have a system that's working brilliantly with no audio sync issues either on live TV (which still used the Monogram decoder) or playback which uses the PowerDVD ts reader and codecs.

IMHO a video card with H.264 support is an essential piece of hardware if you want to watch H.264 encoded streams, software decoding just can't get close.

I've

any updates for users that dont have powerdvd8?

i have coreavc and the momogram aac decoder - and the audio sync issue is very obvious on recorded content. pretty much unusable.
