Ok...after much searching....and trial and error....I was able to get logging to come out of VLC when started from NEWA.

Load the attached patch, restart your service, then start a stream from the remote pc.....you should see a command screen open up on the server with logging.....there will also be a log file in c:\temp but I haven't been able to get anything to go to it....just seeing stuff on the screen.

Let me know.

Ehm... mhm... i stopped the recording service. I applied the above patch and restarted the service. I am really sorry, but here happens absolutely nothing. No popping up command screen no temp folder (whether server nor client). I tried to ran local on the server and i tried via lan. No success.

Ah, i see within the weblog, that you try to log with vlc.exe. I can't imagine that this should work, because vlc just starts up and then "stands". Like the whole time before. ^.^ It would be a wonder, if it could log in this state anything.

Do you have a c:\temp directory already created? If not, create it and try streaming again. Let me know.

This was already one of my thoughts, as i saw that nothing happened while trying to stream something. I did this on the server and on the client (both Win 7 64-bit).

Your effort is unbelievable, UJB... but... not better news for now. It's the same situation as before. IE 32-Bit... IE 64-Bit makes no difference too. I am not sure, but something seems to prevent vlc.exe fom getting running.
What could this be? Your args line within the weblog is correct, i think. Vlc.exe starts up, if we try from within newa. But then nothing happens.
If we call it from commandshell via http command, the vlc is running. Where is the difference here. I really try to support you at bugtracking but i have really no idea what this could be.

If you see VLC in the running processes....then it is starting.....the issue has to do with it not interpreting the passed in arguments correctly, or a security issue, or something with the file it is trying to stream......

DataExecutionPrevention was disabled for testing purposes by me. Firewall disabled. User Account Control disabled. Even tried compatibilitymode (WinXP / run as admin) with vlc.exe. Tried to run nPVR as local user. Of course tried different files (x264 high, main, base... mpeg-2) choosed different transcoding settings. Windows Event is error free. Microsoft Security Essentials disabled. Moving VLC Path to another drive tested (we all know the nice behavior of the root drive...).
Not an easy bugtracking, you know? ^^;

By any chance....did you try deleting the vlc configuration....so a fresh one gets created?

Code:
C:\Users\user-id\AppData\Roaming\vlc\vlcrc

EDIT: Also...what is the NPVR service running under.....System Account or local user?

EDIT2: Is the Interactive Service running in Services?
