Something seems to be wrong with the attachment. I can't open it after I download it.
Edit: Never mind, I finally opened it with 7-zip and it worked. All your others worked fine with the Windows 7 built-in compression tool.

It seems to be working now. Sorry for the problems withe xml file, but at least now you've identified and dealt with some more corner cases.
As to renaming, does it rename only the .ts file or will it include the various comskip files that are created as well? Next is there a way to tell guideplus to use a specific version of a show from tvdb? For example use the 2012 version of Beauty & the Beast rather than the 1987 version?

It will rename (and/or move/archive) the video file plus .xml,.edl and .txt and it will delete .vcf~.log~.logo~.logo.txt~.log. It will also extract the .xml from the secondary stream although there is a switch in npvr that makes this obsolete. If you have more extensions I can add them easily or make it an arg. It does not have a specific way for the user to tell it what year of a show to use but it takes the original air date - first air date and uses the one that has the smallest number based on that. This should work most of the time. Certainly for something with such a large difference in years between remakes. If the guide has no air date then it will use the most recent series.

Great. It looks like you've got all the extensions I care about covered. Another question about rename. I assume it does all the renaming at the time guideplus is run. Does it need to be told where the recordings are or does it get this from the database? If I can get this working then I will eliminate Imagegrablite from my system.
Your description of how it recognizes the series should work well for me.

If you are running comskip it may take longer as it won't rename if the file is in use and I have seen comskip run for quite a while (or perhaps not prevent a sleep and restart when the epg event wakes because it was not completed.). The plus is it will rename everything it can so older shows and movies will be renamed as well. It does not need to be told where the recordings are as that is in the DB. If it can't find the DB you can specify the directory where it is found.
So I decided to move to mc2xml and use the new microsoft servers for my guide data because mc2xml is so much faster. After doing that and running guideplus against the resulting xml file, the output file only has the stations listed and no actual recordings. In addition I'm getting output to stdout like in the attached text file. Shouldn't this be working?
Edit: This works perfectly if I use the legacy Microsoft server.

Can you 7-zip and upload the guide file plus your showfile?

I have to put it on dropbox because it is way too big for the file size limitations on this site.

The syntax is different for the original air date & program ID , I will have to figure out how to handle it. Should not take too long.
