No sign of the box. I am having to buy a physical CD (can you believe that, in 2012??) in order to buy software to make one of Hauppauge's products work.

Bummer. I probably wouldn't bother buying it if you haven't already got it. Its probably not going to help you get it going in NextPVR. Getting the channel in WinTV was just going to help confirm if your signal was good enough for this frequency.

They used to allow users to download it for free from their website until a couple of years ago when they got a slap on the wrist. They license decoders etc, which costs dollars, and they're only paying those license fees with retail devices that ship with WinTV CDs. The other OEM devices are intended for use with MCE etc, and dont ship with WinTV (and haven't got the license fees included in the price). Asking you to insert your CD is their way of checking if you're licensed to use the decoders. Painful, but I can understand why they have to do it.

Those settings are definitely what I have in my working setup. Whether they are *exactly* the right settings or not I can't be sure (especially after pob's post), so I'll try to work that out later on if I get a chance. I know my card can auto-determine of some of the values if you leave them off, but its tuning tends to be much slower when it does that, and I've certainly not noticed that this time.

This is the really odd.thing here too. Neither of my 2 cards is struggling to scan or lock onto other channels. When watching the scan process, it does take s little longer to try the 10847 frequency that the BBC HD channels use before presumably giving up. But I don't think my setup is sufficiently idiosyncratic to warrant its inability to lock those channels, compared to everyone else who seems to be having no problem. Don't know where to start fixing this problem.... Sad

Ok - I have now managed to install WinTV - and it also does not find either BBC HD or BBC One HD. WTF?? Any constructive advice welcomed!

If I understand the theory correctly, here is a tuning .ini to try with all the 7-bit possibilities that are S2/8PSK.
Server = P4; win7; 2.8gHz 3gb ram; NAS; NPVR 2.5.5
Tuners = HVR4000 (s2); Technisat skystar USB, Haup 909; Maplin 9015 dual (A54HQ)
Clients = MVP, XTreamer, Viera, Viewsonic (Maplin A45KZ)

This seems to be producing more channels...and yes. Result! All working now, thank you.

Of course, now I'm keen to understand why. The successful theory was?

Brute force. Can you post your logs so the experts (not me) can see which one hit the spot?
