The devices are there fine, and show up correctly when I use your database.

You don't have any channels though, because I assume you haven't scanned the devices.

Actually, looks like it needs to be able to rediscover the device at the start of a scan, so manually setting up the device in the database is not enough. It needs to be able to find it via either the hdhomerun web api, or the UDP broadcast.

It does this because there is additional settings used for scanning which are not stored anywhere in the database, so it attempts to rediscover these settings when it needs them.

Wouldn't it make sense to extend the filter so that it isn't just Ethernet devices, so if only 802.11 is installed it will still work without Ethernet?

I wasn't intentionally doing this. It just wasn't clear what some of the types included.

I've attached an update which will hopefully work on wireless.

I thinks that is going to work for him, you might want to ignore the 169 link local devices but it works with wifi only for me now.

Code:

I will give the new module a try.

Question: Should I keep the Scan Devices At Startup setting disabled?

You could, personally because my HDHR's aren't also powered one 24/7 I think it is a poor setting since it disables tuners for recording based on a state that existed days or weeks before so I generally turn it off.

I loaded the new module, then started the service(Scan devices at startup is disabled). On the Devices page, I selected the first tuner, then clicked Scan Channels. After the scan, I chose the Schedules Direct guide and clicked Scan. Several hundred channels were shown of which I select 34. Clicking Save then prompted for an EPG update and that completed OK. I then clicked Channels on the main menu bar and was presented with a blank screen. The Guide page showed the top and bottom timelines but no listing. That's when I saved the logs. But...

On the Guide page, I clicked the lower left Channel group dropdown and was surprised to see group HDHomeRun Channels. I clicked and the guide was presented. I then chose All Channels and the guide was again presented. Also, the Channels page now showed all the channels

Looks like I'm in business!! Now to really work it out!

My thanks for helping me with this issue.

JohnC
