Got me, I never used that.
I select my attachment from the attachment icon, and it drops it in place.
That is why you see "[ ATTACH ]1234[ /ATTACH ]" when my posts are quoted.

I should have explained, I'm trying to reuse an attachment from another post.

Thanks,

Never tried that, so I don't know.

Tried a text, got same results you did.

Here's another variation of what might work for sizes.

Here's a truly ugly colour scheme.

Here's X-Search with the date/time offscreen.

Well, if the skinners don't create these files, who does?

Earlier in this thread I asked the question: In the standardized BaseSkin defined future, who is going to write the skin.xml files. While I did get a lot of response, I never did get a direct answer.

The correct answer is: The plug-in developer.

BTW, the developers seem to have some strong opinions regarding skinning...

McBainUK Wrote:I agree with reven, most plugin writers (incl myself) hate the skining part and Blue is the only skin they/I would support "out of the box"

Skinners will rewrite the skin.xml files.

We will probably end up with a more elegant skin (BlueMCE), a low info bandwith version (Flat Blue High Visibility), one for the MVP (ContourHC) and one to work around overscan (Plain Jane) and a bunch that are just plain creative (XMedia A thru Z).

Its good that the standardized BaseSkin is going to make things easier for skinners because there's going to be a lot of skinning going on!

Correct, in the same way they have always been required to develop the default blue skin for their plugin.

Yes, this this has been my understanding for a long time. I've never pushed for them to provide more than the default skin, otherwise I knew I would be asking too much.

Only if they want to. At least they will have a choice. Many skins dont change the layouts of these specific plugins - they may just want to change some colours, or fonts, or background, or the look of the buttons. Skinners are still welcome to rewrite it entirely if they want, but they will be making more work for themselves, including maintanence in future releases. Those that opted not to rewrite the skin.xml files will not have to perform that future maintenance.

Cheer up buddy. How about some optimism for a change?

I actually believe that the changes you are making with respect to BaseSkin.xml are good and I intend to exploit the hell out of them.

There does seem to be a lot of hype implying that no one will need to edit skin.xml files. The intention of my post was to point out that the influences that have lead to our current skin diversity will continue to exist. There will still be a need for different sets of xml files.

Best Regards,
Old Dog

I'm sure if you werent talking about it so much, we would have seen very little about it. Nearly all the posts about this have either been from you, or in response to a question from you, so count yourself as a main contributor why this has got so much 'air time'. I certainly wasnt trying to make a big deal over it.
