I appreciate this thread was started a while ago so please accept my apologies if it is in the wrong place.

I have looked long and hard and applied all kinds of fixes but still cannot get a picture from the NZ Freeview DTT service. I have been using DVB-S for over a year and this all works fine but with DVB-T, I get sound but no pic.

I assume I have an advanced codec issue but installing various codecs from various places and registering them has not helped. My drop down box in the advanced codec part of the playback tab still only contains "default" and 1 other (I am at work so can't remember, but it is NOT the Cyberlink that I was hoping for when I installed PDVD)

My logs show a failure and this would appear to be my problem but I am at a loss as to how to solve it and any input would be appreciated.

Can you set the logging level back to 'debug', then reproduce the problem and repost the logs.

This is a pretty good indication that you dont have an appropriate decoder, and is most likely the cause of your problem.

What version of Power DVD did you install? Power DVD 8 was required, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the later trials may not even work as there was an update that came out that stopped third party apps from being able to use the Cyberlink powerdvd 8 h.264 codec.

The only other options are CoreAVC and Arcsoft Total Media. The Arcsoft one is pay software as well I think.

I'm at work now Sub but will change to debug and update this evening.

It was the latest version of PDVD 8 (Ultra I think) that I installed. The CoreAVC is the other 1 in the drop down that I couldn't remember.

Interestingly, a recorded file will play back in WMP but it has pic but no sound just to add some confusion (or posibly some light!)

Thanks again for the quick replies

GBPVR and WMP both rely on directshow filters so if it doesn't work in one ir most likely wont work in the other. Thats why i mentioned VLC which doesn't used the same direct show decoders.

AFAIK, CoreAVC doesn't to hardware decoding, so requires a pretty grunty CPU to get it to work properly. Arcsoft total media does use hardware decoding.

OK new logs attached changed to debug mode

I only have 1 channel on DTT at the moment (TVNZ 7) to keep things simple.

Hope this helps.

Try installing and selecting these video and audio decoders

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

Also set your audio renderer back to 'system default'. Its currently set to 'Default WaveOut Device' which can cause problems.

Thanks Sub

I already had those 2 but un registered them and reregistered them. Did not seem to help. I then downloaded PDVD 8 and installed (I previously had PDVD 9). I now have picture and sound! The picture is pretty jerky but I imagine this is my onboard video card not cutting it. I have also changed the audio renderer to "System Default" as recommended. Next upgrade should be a video card I think.

Thanks for the help. Appreciated as always!
