Do you have other Hauppauge cards installed? I was afraid to run HWClear since I didn't really want to re-install my PVR 150 and 250 drivers. But if it clears just the HD-PVR drivers that'd be ok.

There is another issue using this method though. If I don't use the channel changer, GBPVR doesn't tear down the graph so if I switch to a channel with a different resolution, I lose the picture until I exit TV mode and restart it. I wil try an MCE channel changer and see what happens.

Now that you mention it, yesterday when I had it working, i was manally changing the channels on the STB...

BTW, what boxes are you guys recording from? Motorola DCT6200 (from Comcast) here...

I have a moto DCH-3200 from comcast.
im surprised you don't have the same if you just had to replace your box. i only got mine a couple months ago and it seemed to be the new standard HD box for at least northeast philly if not all of philly

let me ask this question about firewire channel changing:
under cmd i can change the channel by typing in:
channel -v -f 2 {channel}
i just have to put channel.exe in as the executable file and -v -f 2 {channel} in the parameters of the .exe channel changing plugin, right?

I'm using a Motorola DCT 6412 STB with the USB-UIRT channel changer. Or I should say, I'm attempting to use... Smile

I have the Moto DCH-6416 (wtg, don't upgrade to it unless you HAVE to. The response can be extremely sluggish at times.)

I've had it running for a couple of hours now with no freeze. thisisnotadrill, can you post your logs showing the last couple of lockups? I'm curious about something.

How did you get firewire going? I think I want to look into that, because the blaster is horrible. If the HD-PVR hasn't done anything in a while, it enters the numbers to slow for the first recording which results in the channel not changing. Decreasing the delay didn't help.

BTW - just called Hauppauge - they asked me to record some SD channels to see if it works for that. They weren't sure at this point if its a hardware or driver issue.

I installed the timmoore package and the exdeus drivers and got the two firewire devices installed (panel and tuner) correctly. that was probably more dumb luck on my part. but i had noticed that everything was installed correctly when i was playing around with that arcsoft program Video Capture.

after that i followed directions that i found on these forums. i actually think it was made by you and someone else posted reasonable directions.

but you just go under start|programs and find the timmmoore folder and click cmd. it opens up a command window in the right folder and then i typed in "channel -v" and it posted a whole ton of information. the important part was finding out that the firewire tuner device was 2 (not quite sure what the two references, devices on a chain i guess?).

after that i tried typing in "channel -v 2 234" to try to tune it into NBC-HD (pens were in intermission) and it didn't work, it said something about somethign not being supported but if you were sure you could add the -f flag so then i typed in "channel -v -f 234" and lo and behold it tuned the box correctly.

that was basically the hard part because all i had to go do to set it up in GBPVR was edit the HD-PVR capture source and instead of using HaupBlast.exe as the channel changer .exe file I pointed it to channel.exe in the timmmoore folder then added "-v -f {channel}" as the parameters.

i think i can probably get rid of the -v flag as well because i think that just makes the program spit back all the debugging info but i didn't mess with it because it worked correctly.

All in all much preferable (in ease of use and aesthetically) to an IR blaster, especially since the adhesive they had on mine really sucked and it kept falling off.

though i will caution that i have only used it a bit so for all i know i could run into problems.
