Bugger!

(Same behaviour in DVBPortal TSConverter alright as internalTsReader)

I'm almost in GBPVR heaven!! Big Grin After reading comments here I have installed the PDVD8 trial and am using it for the H264 decoder and the RTE SD and BBC HD channels work with EVR!! So I have hw accel for the HD channels and a watchable non green RTE picture! I'm still using PDVD7 for the mpeg2 decoder but I assume there's no reason why I cant use PDVD8 for that too.

The other thing I have done is removed CCC and installed Powerstrip instead which is so much better. Interlacing works fine without CCC and the HD channel no longer stutters occasionally either. I have also got Powerstrip to produce a working 1080p@50 mode which is silky smooth for news tickers and for both SD and HD channels. CCC would only offer me 1080p@60 which was awful for news tickers etc in PAL land.

All I have to do now is cough up the cash for powerstrip and PDVD8 I guess! Which is annoying as I bought a BluRay drive with a version of PVDV7...

One offtopic question, can anyone give me an idiots guide to getting BluRay disks to play from PDVD called from an additional menu item within GBPVR? I've managed to add another menu item which calls PDVD but I cant get it to start up in full screen or exit when I've finished with it and plugging in a mouse to get rid of it is very annoying!

Right I have a clean windows XP install ready to test!

I upgraded my PVR machine back to v1.2.13. One thing to note is that during a rescan of the DVB-T channels (MPEG-4), I only get audio and no picture. Indicative of the problem I suppose.

Also the internal TS Reader does play mpeg-2 TS files, but not mpeg-4 TS files. When playing them, it seems to just fast forward throught them at a very fast pace, but with no picture or sound!

Which decoders are you using? I am using the internal TS reader which works fine on the DVB-S HD channels and the DVB-T mpeg4 ones. I'm running vista with EVR mind you...

Using XP with Custom-VMR

I have tried both CoreAVC (full version) and PowerDVD8.
Various Audio decoders.

Right well I setup a clean install on my tets machine.
Just XP SP2, ffdshow, haali media splitter, GBPVR, HDTVPump and TsConverter.

I could play a file fine with TsConverter, which I previously could not! So it seems you were right about my messed up decoders. I shall start uninstalling them all!

Funny enough I could not play the file through GBPVR as it hangs! I have not setup anything yet in GBPVR as i just wanted it to playback the files using internalTsreader.

Logs attached. Maybe I forgot something basic?

Now it looks like it is unable to find the required types of directshow decoder. I would not worry about installing ffdshow, haali splitter, HDTVPump etc. I'd just use the internal reader and go with Cyberlink H.264 decoder and AC3Filter for audio. Explicitly select the cyberlink H.264 decoder on the playback tab.

I think you must be pretty unlucky though. There is dozens of other people here using H.264/AC3 (Freeview in NZ (AAC audio on some channels), Freesat in the UK etc), and most have got it working pretty easily.

Yes, I must be unlucky in this regard!

Hopefully all will be well when I do a clean install on my PVR machine and I can get everything up and running again. This time I will be a lot more selective in the applications and codecs I install!

BTW: I have found that the full version of CoreAVC handles signal dropouts better than the pdvd8 codec. pdvd8 just stops playing the files.

On my test rig I installed the other two codecs... but GBPVR still hangs! Anyhow I will just ignore it now and presume all will be well on the real PVR.

CoreAVC is known to not work well for DVB. It does not handle dynamic resolution changes, and is prone to locking up when changing channels.

The author has indicated they're aware of these problems and hope to fix in the future, but didnt put a high priority on it.

SUb: Can you try playing the new file here via GBPVR

http://www.4shared.com/dir/8760075/829cc...aring.html

The last one (NipTuck) was a fullTsMux recording.

I have reinstalled WindowsXP on my PVR and only installed a few codecs.

Now I can play the mpeg-4 TS file in TsConverter which I could not do before.
If I try to playback the same file in GBPVR with internalTsReader, GBPVR hangs!

logs included again.
