Yes great work Martin....

OK there are card slots, but that is far short of displaying a picture! In general, Skys encryption system is closed shop. GBPVR itself doesn't support encryption, there are mdapi something or others, but I have no idea if or how they work with NDS. One problem was that mere discussion of this was outlawed in Europe and I lost touch.

Martin123 did Sub get onto the PC you put together - was it what was needed? I had not looked at this thread for a few days and missed Sub's request for a PC to remote access...

I hope it was what was needed - It's still up as I don't know if he has finished yet. The machine wanted a good burn-in test anyway as it's a probably replacement for the current server

Have you any idea how I translate the data from lyngsat to the scan.cache file? I have tried and failed.

I had not looked at this thread for a few days and missed Sub's request for a PC to remote access...Yes, martin123 hooked me up. Unfortunately I think his S-350 might hamper progress though. I've used some tools to monitor the transport stream its generating, and its outputting garbage (should have 0x47 every 188 bytes, but data out this card doesnt). I suspect this device has drivers that have been coded to only work well when things are done in one specific way, and not the specific way GB-PVR is doing it. Martin, I dont suppose you have another DVB-S device handy so I can ignore the S-350 issue for now and focus on the freesat scanning itself? I'd like to try to resolve the S-350 issue too, but the freesat scanning itself is probably more important.

'fraid not. The only other one I acquired when the s350 was problematical was the dual tuner pinnacle 4000i and this produced no data at all with gbpvr.
It's strange that once someone else's cache file is used the S350 works perfectly. p.s. I don't know if you grabbed that big .ts file, but in case you wanted it, I rar'd it to death and uploaded to http://www.savefile.com/files/1866352 I'm a little reluctant to buy an dvb-s card with the possibilities of some of the freesat channels using S2 for HD - and S2 cards are a quite expensive at the moment.

Anyone know the quick differences between a Hauppauge nova-s and a nova-s plus?
I may know of a nova-s available locally for a moderate price. I've not had a chance to research the differences yet. |
