Just to close the loop, I removed and re-added my channels for those two tuners and put back one of the newer NShared libraries and now everything is working properly. Thanks for the help troubleshooting.

Hello Sub,
I'm in this thread because I had the original issue of RCA vs. SPDIF. I have a couple of questions and maybe an issue, feel free to call me a crazy user and go away. I don't want to thread crap I just didn't know if these issues are related and you wanted them here or in their own thread. I thought they were related to the patch I installed but honestly I think they all came from the update to 2.5.9. What is the function of the audio drop down next to the video input source? Should it stay on what you pick and if the channel doesn't have a listing specified it uses it? If you export remove then re-import the channels that will not effect the recording schedule? So now I have the bitrate problem, I'm using component and the same show has gone from 2GB, for a episode of 30min, to around ~800 for 720p! I can look into my recording prefs for SD and change it but I'm afraid it would up the bit rate of all devices on SD and I do a lot of recording in SD with another card. I've also had a manual recording slip to a new the following day, I don't think I changed the recording since i installed this machine. I know you need logs, I am just waiting to know if I'm booting to my own thread or not.

It's done this way since you might be using a device for multiple inputs. For example, you might have a pile of satellite channels coming from a set top box via HDMI, and a different set of cable channels on composite+SPDIF coming from a cable box. In effect, it doesn't matter what the drop downs are set to now. It only matters what they were set to at the time the channels were imported. To make this more clear, one of the recent patches modified the way the channels were listed to explicitly show what inputs they were associated with. It was confusing before that patch. This is probably what has happened. |
