I did those test a few days ago, and did see one lockup, but I wasn't able to make it happen again. I spent most of a day trying.

So, at this stage, I still don't really have much to go on.

I'll have another go at it in the next few days.

Thanks for the update. Just to confirm exactly the same issues as the others; my set up is stable having downgraded to 2.5.5, but 2.5.9 had client freezes on live TV without fail every hour or two, mostly requiring a force close and restart of the client program to recover. Playback of recordings was fine.

Sub, I've just put all of the R2 patches on to my client and 2.5.9 server and can confirm that the freezes are still occuring. I'm fairly sure they happen at the point that the switch to a new cache file occurs. The cache files continues to grow until I press back on the client and return to the menu from the frozen screen. Anything other than the back key seems to lock the client completely needing a restart of NPVR.

If you need a set of logs from the latest patches, I can do that easily.

Server: Ci5 2500k, 3GB, Windows Server 2012, nPVR 3.5.7. 2xWinTV-DVB-T USB, 1xWinTV-DVB-T PCI, 2 x BlackGold DVB-T, 1xPCTV290E and 1xPCTV460E on Astra 28.2 E.
clients: RPI2, Acer R3700, PCH-A110, NUC, 3xSamsung Smart TV

trummel summaries it perfectly....additional to this is if one leaves the client in lock too long then even a 'back' will freeze the client....upon occasion (not always) one can click on the skip forward button and things will continue...I am also sure the issues are occurring during the change to a new cache file....

Guys, I got sick of all the TV's around the house freezing so decided to go back to 2.5.5. on the server only.....in order to do this I stopped the NextPVR recording service, uninstalled NextPVR and then re-installed NextPVR with version 2.5.5.....however when I open NextPVR on the server it says it is on version 2.5.9....any suggestions?

Thanks....

It's probably because the Config.xml is not updated when you install an older version. Try updating the version number manually in Config.xml.

Thanks Reddwarf....since I did a complete uninstall and then reinstall I would have hoped that an old config.xml file would have been removed...I guess not.

I guess the advantage is I didn't need to reset everything up, however is there anyway to know if I am actually indeed on version 2.5.5. over 2.5.9?

Unfortunately sub doesn't use versioning in NextPVR so the logs show everything as 1.0.0.0 so you need to uninstall and check that the program files is indeed removed. If you want a clean uninstall you should also should delete the data directory before reverting because empty.db3 will be bad as will your converted database which may or may not be compatible with the version and logic you are reverting to. Reverting the database will immedialtely invalidate all newer clients that want to use the database via a share.
