Another user in Australia (Nistrod) reported a similar 10 hour discrepancy which I associated with a time-zone issue. He reported it as fixed with nDroid v2.0.2 though.

The All Timeslots button? That's odd, I'd expect it to show something even if it is getting time offsets wrong.

Quote:I don't know if this could have anything to do with it but I brought the samsung in the USA and registered it from over there. I am now in Australia. I have changed the location and time zone. Its like it won't grab any data between midnight and 10.00am for the day you update the EPG.
Hmmm, I doubt the origin of the tablet (US) would have hard-coded anything.

Can you double check to make sure the time / time-zone and any daylight savings offset are correct? I'm assuming you're UTC/GMT +10? I'll manually set my tablet to that and see what happens.

EDIT: I made a note of some start times of some TV programmes and then set my tablet to Brisbane time (GMT +10) and my TV views in nDroid TE showed what I'd expect. I'm confused about this problem.

Cheers,
Brian

Yes it is a strange one. The all time slots works now. Its 5.25pm. It still shows all the epg data from 10.00am.
The time is set for gmt +10 in Sydney as they have no Melbourne but they are both the same time zone.
Any data I could supply to help?

You could zip and send me the data folder from the nDroid Service.

You'll find it under a folder called Beetec Services located in either C:\Users\Public (Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8) or for XP it'll be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data.

Hi Brian
Here are the two folders in the Data folder after the EPG had updated. I had a look at the Samsung before the update and all the EPG data was there from Midnight but as soon as the update came through it was back to 10.00am.
Hope you can find something in these files. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks Dave, I'll set my tablet to Sydney time and try your data.

Well if it's a problem in my code there's no need for you to apologise as it'll be my fault. Smile

I'll let you know what I find.

Brian

This may or may not be relevant to dave.t's problem...

I was testing v1.8.9 of the service - waited until the data files were created then fired up the tablet - in the Seven Day, Now/Next and All Timeslots view the first EPG event I see for any channel is the next program - I don't see the currently showing program.

Thanks Alex but I'm not seeing that.

I'm not only double checking the times on my tablet with the npvr TV Guide but also online TV guides. Your tablet is enabled to use daylight savings right? Or do you boycott BST in Scotland? Wink

@dave.t - Yep, I'm seeing exactly what you're describing using your data and with my tablet set to Sydney time. I checked an Australian TV Guide site and all the timings are correct but obviously there's a problem with the time offset for when it starts the current day.

I'll back-track on my code and find the problem.

Client 2.0.7, service 1.8.8.

Better & better...
I like the portrait mode - I much prefer it.

There are a couple of issues:
  • (Nexus 7)In All Timeslots mode, rotating from Portrait to Landscape FCs, Seven Day and Now/Next are fine. On Nexus 4 it doesn't crash, but reverts to 7 day view.
  • (Nexus 7)In Seven Day view, the word TODAY has the Y on a second line
  • (Nexus 4)In Seven Day view, TO and DA are on 2 lines, and Y is gone altogether. MO and N, WE and D, TH and U are on separate lines. TUE, FRI & SAT are fine.
  • (Nexus 4)7Day, The bottom half of the channel logo is chopped off in landscape.
  • Todays shows are still starting at 10am (I am in UTC + 10). It is 13:55 and All Timeslots and Now / Next are correct.
  • I am still seeing multiple "groups" for the same time in All Timeslots mode
  • A channel with a slash (ABC2 / ABC4) in the name still gives the generic ndroid logo. NPVR wants ABC2<space><space>

and some suggestions:
  • When you press record, the focus is in the pre-padding field. This makes a keyboard pop-up. I would prefer no keyboard, as I usually just want to press Record.
  • Numeric fields should pop up a numeric keyboard.
  • On the first screen, the Record button is on the right, on the second, it is on the left.
  • There is a fair amount of empty space, particularly in landscape mode on a tablet. Could we not have, for example, finish times & durations. There may even be room for the descriptions in some cases.
  • It would help if Now/Next displayed the start and finish times. That is, when does the next show start. Again, lots of empty space.
  • Would it be possible to make the panel boundaries adjustable? I could give up description space for more shows, for example.

I hope this helps.
Cheers

OK, confirmed FC in All Timeslots on my Nexus 7 and reverting to 7 day on my HTC Desire too - I'll look in to it.
Quote:(Nexus 7)In Seven Day view, the word TODAY has the Y on a second line
Yeah, it's a PITA. I've tried a couple of times to fix that - it's on my ToDo list.
Quote:(Nexus 4)In Seven Day view, TO and DA are on 2 lines, and Y is gone altogether. MO and N, WE and D, TH and U are on separate lines. TUE, FRI & SAT are fine.
Weird. On the Desire (3.7 inch) the text looks fine. I'm assuming the Nexus 4 is scaling up the font because of higher density but not being able fit Mon, Wed or Thu on one line is a bit extreme. Any chance of a screenshot so I can visualise it better?
Quote:(Nexus 4)7Day, The bottom half of the channel logo is chopped off in landscape.
Yeah, I tried tweaking that and it's better on current dev version. I've never liked the tabs in landscape on phone screens - they're too big and I never got around to creating custom tabs, still something on the ToDo list.
Quote:Todays shows are still starting at 10am (I am in UTC + 10).
There's something odd depending on when the nDroid Service last updated its files and the app downloaded them. I'll check it out.
Quote:I am still seeing multiple "groups" for the same time in All Timeslots mode
Hmmm, I may ask you to send your nDroid service zip files at some point. I haven't seen that for some time since I re-worked the code last time for nDoid v1.x
Quote:A channel with a slash (ABC2 / ABC4) in the name still gives the generic ndroid logo. NPVR wants ABC2<space><space>
OK, it's an easy fix but I don't have any channel names like that so I keep forgetting about it. Sorry, I'll bump it on the ToDo list.

Thanks, I've got ideas for most of those which will be solved in a future release.

Buttons for example were always embedded in the different views / popups hence the inconsistency sometimes. I'm working on a modular button panel which will be re-usable everywhere. It will also include a "Quick Record" button.

The Now/Next view definitely needs work as it's pretty bland. As for adjustable panel boundaries - that's a tricky one to code if you want dynamic sizing but I can certainly make them appear / disappear fairly easily. It would be sometime in the future for that though.

Cheers,
Brian

BTW: Thanks for opting in to the Beta Testers group, you're the only volunteer so far although I did press-gang ACTCMS and my wife. Hopefully if I get a few more people, it'll get the group moving.

In Portrait view on the 7" tablet...

I see the same problem as Nistrod for Today, Mon, Tue, etc
In TV guide the 7 Day, Now/Next, etc text disapears but the little grey arrow is still visible
In Recordings the same thing happens with Recurring,Ready, Pending, etc
In TV Guide/Show details at the bottom of the screen, the Left aligned title and right aligned times overlap in the middle

In Landscape view...
when I swipe to change from Recurring to Ready, etc, the 'title' at the top left doesn't change.
