One more thing, is there a way to increase the volume of the xvid file?

Edit: I think I found this one out. Anywhere where there is a lameopts. I added vol=9, but I guess you can set lower. The only place I saw a vol= it was set to 3 so i changed it to 9. Volume now is much higher, maybe too much. I will set it at 7 and see.

You may also want to try volume normalization. Currently it's just used when the source is AC3.

SET volnorm=-af volnorm

That would set normalization for all files. You can add it anywhere after line 284.

Anyone know of a compiled version of mencoder with the updated 1.2 xvid codec?

I'm not aware of of any compiles with the updated xvid build. Celtic Druid has some compiles with xvid 1.2 but they are almost a year old.

stattik,

Can your bat wake the computer up to do the transcoding? I know you have variables for start and stop times but I wasn;t sure if this would wake the computer like GBPVR does to record a show.

No, it doesn't have that ability. The variables are to push the transcoding to "off-hours" if needed.

If inside your .bat the transcoding is set for between 2am-5am and it was called from inside the postprocessing.bat and my computer is always on. This means the postprocessing.bat, if started at 8pm after a recording, would call your bat which will sleep until 2am, start its transcoding, and then exit. Then the post processing.bat would complete after that?

I guess I am asking if pushing the transcoding to a later time will screw up the postprocessing.bat from completing after the transcode.

Assuming everything works like described above, do you know what would happen if I had several recordings happen during the day and the transcode time is set to 2am-5am? Do several postprocessing.bat queue up?

Thanks in advance and thanks for this very helpful utility.

Yes, it should.

You would have multiple files being transcoded at the same time which wouldn't be very efficient.

My suggestion is to do the following:

SET directory_monitoring=yes
SET recursive_transcode_directory=D:\path\to\recordings
SET target_extension=edl ---if you use comskip otherwise set to mpg or ts
SET time_check=yes
SET time_transcode_start=0200
SET time_transcode_stop=0500

Then run the script and leave it minimized. It will check the time every 30 minutes and when 2am comes around, it will start transcoding whatever is in your recording directory. If, after it's done with a file and it's after 5am, it will sleep.

Sorry , don't think I am stalking you but.....

yes the script offers divx, xvid and h,264 encoding methods but I think you question for stattik is actually:-

I would like to be able to select the encoding method used from within pastro's skiptool plugin. It is possible to pass the encoding method to this script as a command line argument from within skiptool?

(Apologies if I have not understood u correctly)
