GBPVR 1.0.16

I am looking to remove commercials, rename the recording and then transcode - all automatically.

I have comskip, comclean, and renamerecording in a postprocessing.bat file and then GBPVR config set up to transcode overnight. With that being said the automatic transcoding is a lower priority than the first three items.

I am getting errors in the comclean.err file and renamerecording doesn't always work. The last example of this was a recording that appeared to have comskip run fine (identified by the 2 .txt files) but the new output .mpg file from comclean was not produced and the two .txt files were renamed with the episode name (but not the .mpeg file).

Also, it seems that when the files are renamed then they are not available in the recordings page but they are available on the video library page.

What is the best way to remove commercials and rename the recording? Do I need to make a change to my setup? Secondarily, I'd like to be able to transcode the renamed file automatically (overnight based on the "Wake Machine" setting) - (I understand that the transcoding is *use at your own risk*).

Thanks for your insight

Show us a copy of your postprocessing.bat file.
I have a feeling that the transcode won't work because the file has been renamed in postprocessing, but really need to see how you've got things set up.
I have a parallelprocessing.bat that runs comskip, then videoredo (alternatively comclean), then rename, and can transcode as well.
It's nice, because comskip finishes almost as soon as the recording is done, then comclean has the commercials removed, then renamed, all within a few minutes. Transcoding takes a bit longer, but using mencoder, can also run in order, and have a nicely finished avi.

you could also just use mencoder and the rename recordings...Smile

when transcoding, mencoder makes perfect cuts with -hr-edl-seek..
and since it re-encodes in same step, simplifies things a bit..
then just do the rename recordings bit after and you're all set..

mencoder only has problems when using that switch without re-encoding..

Here's the comclean.err (with errors) and the postprocessing.bat file.

I am not familiar with the other plugins mentioned here so I will try to do some research.

thanks

What version of comclean?
What version of renamerecording?

Try mencoder to transcode, and i can get you a full working .bat to do the comskip, comclean, and transcode.

Heath, are you sure want the commercials removed automatically. About 10% of the time they are off. This skip tool looks promising - http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/SkipTool

The skip tool is for manual marking of commercials, nothing else.
A properly tuned comskip with comclean or videoredo will do it almost perfectly every time.

Use the skip tool to fine tune comskip. Eric will help.
I have 4 different .ini files I use, depending on channel.
It's not that difficult to get working with a little patience.
There are posts on the videoredo forums for using it automatically to remove ad's as well, you might want to look there.

In the spirit of following up on posts....

I appreciate all of your time and responses. In order to "resolve" the issue I changed my requirements. I recently installed 1.1.5 (very happy with it) and will simply use AddEpisode for the time being to rename the recording. When I get some more time I will look into marking and/or skipping commercials.

Thanks
