Outstanding quality.

A 4:3 version would be the #1 replacement for 'Blue' without a doubt.

the really good thing about the "blue" plugin is that is so lightweight, and doesnt need much horse power to run smoothly, higher quality ones wouldnt work well on low end machines. so personally i thnk we should stick with "blue" (or at least a skin that mostly uses <DrawRects> etc instead of gfx).

but yes this skin is looking very pretty Smile

I am not suggesting this replace blue as a packaged install, just that users will download this as the #1 blue replacement (maybe a little bold of a statement on my part). Blue isn't going anywhere soon, it is just too, for the lack of a better term, "simple" to replace.

One of the more popular skins going is MCE2. I see this as an evolution of that design. It has that windows Vista "feel" without being a blatant ripoff that you will find on the web.

thanks. in fact, nothing is copied from somewhere, even the buttons, tribles, backgrounds.... are selfmade ;-) i think it is important to have new and original skins rather than just copying from mediaportal or microsoft (or apple, but a frontrow-clone wouldn't work for gbpvr).

interesting: you said, it has a vista "feel". actually i had the idea for this skin after installing the vista beta2!

concerning memory consumption: somewhere sub said, a png doesn't consume more memory than a drawRectangle. the only problem is, i currently draw 4 images for ONE icon: the background, the taskimage for icons without thumbnail, the thumbnail and the glass overlay. i think, this is the point where the skin uses more horse power (and don't forget the bigger resolution).

the interest in a 4:3-version seems to be high....do we need another poll? Big Grin

they do use the same amount of memory once drawn, but png files (or any graphics files) of course would take longer for the cpu to actually draw, once the image is made all is same.

just menus will be drawn slower with the more amount of images you use. you can easily see this in the "slide in animation" of the later my series plugings, the blue skin does this animation really fast (around 20fps on a good machine) if you're using pngs etc in the skin it drops down to about 8fps.

Oh man I really can't wait for this skin. I've been using ContourHC since it came out but this one really fits the bill.

@reven: which version of the my-series should be skinned? the beta's from your forum or the version on the wiki? or both? both won't be possible.....the plugins have the same name.

I vote for a 4:3 version. I have a 50" wide-screen, but I usually run it in 4:3 mode as I don't have an HDTV signal yet, and probably wont until the bloodsucking cable companies offer more content to justify the ridiculous price increase. I'm sorry... Was I on a rant? =)

Good work.

you could skin now
my music 3 rc1 (let me know if you need to download it, i broke my website the other day and you no longer can get it, fixing it this weekend)
my vids 5 rc 1 (you can get this from my website under downloads).
i dont see anything changing in the skinning errors for these plugins.

dont do the current version of my pics, that skin is out of date (doesnt work with my vids/music).

my programs i need to finish off, but that shouldnt take longer than a weekend when i get a chance.

they all use a common "my series" skin now so you dont have to copy and paste the same skin stuff into each plugin, but this means i have to get them all to a stable state where they all use the same skin correctly (thus the reason why they were beta for so long, didnt want to piss skinners off).
