Ski098 Wrote:Yeah, this is driving me crazy. I gave up trying to get it to work on my Windows 2003 Server, just running it off my laptop to get the xml and I can manually copy it to the server just to get the EPG updated for today...

But it's not working on my Windows XP Laptop either.

It's pretty odd. I've attached my log file from my XP Laptop. I tried several different areas to download data from and none of them worked.

I'll probably mess around some more on it while I'm working tomorrow
I tried this morning to get providers and Yahoo doesn't appear to have the listings ready. Then in the middle of testing the whole API server went down; hopefully they didn't just turn it off.

I looked at your listings for USA network and my listings for USA Network, the listings are exactly the same.

This means the two hour time issue is on your/gbpvr's end.

When you load the xml file in (using the xmltv plugin in the capture sources) did you make sure that little box that says only use as required read 00:00?

Long shot: Does this application rely on MS Office for anything? I can't imagine it would, but periodically the Office Setup is throwing up a dialog requesting the CD. It seems to always trigger when YApi2XML runs. My Office CDs are in a basement, in a box somewhere, so I'd rather not tear things apart to find it if I don't have to. Smile

Could be coincidence. I'm just wondering if it relies on Office for something (like maybe XML parsing or something?)

Or is it maybe something with GBPVR itself?

It relies on a bunch of MS components but I don't think office is one of them because i don't have office installed on my HTPC.

First: What file is it requesting the cd for?

Second: Download the vb6files and follow the instructions located: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...2XML#toc14

DATA1.MSI as I recall. I can verify when I get home.

I'm pretty sure I installed the VB6 stuff, but maybe something got hosed.

Oz,

Thanks for the nice tool but I am having slight trouble using this tool. It works until downloading and unzipping the schedule file but generates an error while it is creating an XML file.

I have tested this on 4 different systems, and it is working fine on other systems except the one I really want to use :o. Here are the systems I tested.

1. Windows 2003 Server, GB-PVR installed : not working
2. Windows XP at my work : working
3. Windows XP under VMWare : working
4. Windows 2003 server under VMware : working

The schedule file downloaded in each system is identical. The problem is just creating the XML file.

Here is the error log.

Oz,

I've got the updater working on my Windows XP laptop. You may want to put in the documentation this fix.

What I did was delete the .ini file and the schedule.zip. For some reason if the schedule.zip file was already in the directory it wouldn't proceed. I did just test it out and my laptop did update the EPG and it created the yapixml.xml file. I'm going to head home in a couple hours and test that fix out on my Windows 2003 server.

Tansy1896 - Sounds like you're trying to set it up similar to how I am. Windows 2003 server et al. I haven't gotten as far as actually getting it to download the schedule yet. So hopefully it will work for me tonite. Otherwise... I'm just going to have to figure out a way to manually run the updater on an XP desktop and copy it over to the server weekly. Or get really crazy and setup Virtual PC and run the application through that. =)

That is different. Try this special version: http://www.epgtools.com/gb_devs/tansy1896.zip for me. It will probably still fail on Server but I added some more details to that error so lets see what it pops up with.

If/when it does fail it would be great if you could email me the schedule.zip file that it leaves behind. I'll PM you my email address.

I think thats a fluke. It didn't work for me this morning but it is now. What that means is most likely yahoo finally created the zip file.

SO... everyone who was having problems should try to get the file again as it may be created now.

I'll be working on it tonite as well. Now that I can get the XML file over there manually I'm relieved to be able to use GBPVR again. But I'd like to help with testing this on Windows 2003 Server. I'm sure more and more of us are going to be popping up with GBPVR on the server. Especially now that I just found out I can stream content via the EWA Admin service. I'm looking forward to installing that tonite.

I haven't done any coding in years so it's kind of fun to be playing around with this stuff again. I've been an IT Admin for several years but usually I'm too busy fixing user issues with their hardware to mess around with software issues.
