OK, here they are at last.

I've restarted everything from scratch and still get the same problem. (i..e live tv1 2 , 3 and HD all ok, everything else crappy).

PowerDVD8 can playback recordings of every channel beautifully.

And I cannot get playback from GBPVR to work using ....
<UseBuiltInTSReader>false</UseBuiltInTSReader>
<UsePowerDVD8ForTS>true</UsePowerDVD8ForTS>

and using installing the nativeutilities.dll you have provided in this thread.
(In fact that nativeutilities.dll causes the screen to freeze.)

Are there any significant differences between tv1,2,3 and the rest of NZ channel?

By the look of your screenshots, I'm guessing it'll be a problem with the video card drivers. You could try disabling hardware acceleration in the decoder or switching video renderers to see if it helps.

Interesting. Switching video renderers didn't help but disabling hardware acceleration made a difference. When I turned off hardware acceleration and tried running PVR2 it just gave a message like "Your system does not support the required VMR9 video renderer". So I tried using the Overlay renderer. This just causes a PVR2 to look like it started running and create a window but I could still see my wallpaper through it and nothing would happen.

Then I tried the old GUI using VMR7. Using this renderer with hardware acceleration off and I can see live TV!!

Also PowerDVD8 bombs out when hardware acceleation is turned off (presumably it too doesn't think my sytem supports the VMR9 video renderer.).

So now I need to figure out how to get VMR9 support in with hardware acceleation turned off. hmmm

I understand that this sync issue might have nothing to do with GB-PVR directly, but I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea, at least for a little while, to add an option that allows the user to run an external application to view recorded programs rather than using PVR. Just until this audio sync issue is worked out. It appears that people are able to view recorded programs using PDVD without encountering the sync issue. Just a thought.

If you've got powerdvd8 installed, and the patch from this thread, then there is no sync issue.

I had a similar problem with all channels but TV1,TV2, TV3 and HD test. My problem was I got sound for a few seconds then no picture. I installed the Twinhan drivers, for H.264, mentioned in another thread and disabled the PowerDVD8 filter.

Everything miraculously came right. My assumption is that I messed up the PowerDVD8 install somewhere.

Good luck.

I've now made some progress. I can now display all channels just fine by disabling hardware acceleration. The way I had to do this was to use regedit and setting to 0 the following parameter.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->CyberLink->Common->cl264dec->UIUseHVA.

Any other method (say configuring the display driver) would cause all the applications to bomb out.

Anyway, now that I've had this breakthrough, I thought I'd revisit this voice sync issue.

I've applied the nativeutilties patch, made the config.xml changes, but no sound on playback (picture ok).

When I playback the file I get...
2008-05-04 10:18:34.296 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
2008-05-04 10:18:34.296 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
2008-05-04 10:18:34.296 VERBOSE - CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)
2008-05-04 10:18:34.296 VERBOSE - C:\Temp\The Chasers War On Everything\The Chasers War On Everything_20080502_22002230.ts
2008-05-04 10:18:34.296 VERBOSE getSetting(SaveGraphFiles)

Are there suppose to be some sound filters mentioned ?

I can tell from that snippet of log you posted that it isnt using the Cyberlink components it needs.

Try adding <UseBuiltInTSReader>true</UseBuiltInTSReader> in config.xml. If that doesnt help, zip and attach the logs again and I'll take another look.

That works in playback now thank you.
And also live TV is still working nicely in sync too.
However in time-shift mode (i.e. I hit pause while watching live, or I playback a currently recording program) there is a audio sync problem.

I would have thought time-shift mode should have been like playback mode?

Great.

Unfortunately because of a couple of oddities with the Cyberlink audio decoder (and its reliance on the Cyberlink demux), it can only be used for the playback of complete files. All other situations need another decoder, ie the monogram decoder. Unfortunately the monogram decoder has some audio/video sync issues though.

I've tried a prerelease of another decoder that can be used in live tv, timeshift and playback of recordings, and has perfect a/v sync, but unfortunately its not publically available yet, so you'll just have to make do for now with the current limitations of the monogram/cyberlink combination for now.
