The plus has S video, line and composite inputs for camcorers etc, i think it also supports their CAM interface as it has some sort of internal edge connector on the board.

Dont think the non Plus has a remote.

OK thanks for that, I've got s-video/composite coming out of my ears so that's no problem. Likewise the remote - three of those I think!

Nova-s should be on it's way here, but I don't know if it will be here tomorrow, the weekend or Monday.

Sorry, I didnt realise you were going to buy another card based on my questions - but a Nova-S will make things simplier.

Yes, there is a something strange about S350 that I'm sure is solveable, but unfortunate

I think it relates to S350 only working when the application submits a tuning request with SID/NID/ONID information. This does happen once you have a scan cache file, or mapped channels, but it doesnt happen during scanning, because this info isnt known, This approach is fine with the vast majority of devices, but I suspect this device is expecting it to be there because this is the way Microsoft do it in MCE.

Thanks - I did download a 70MB or so chunk.

Quote:'fraid not. The only other one I acquired when the s350 was problematical was the dual tuner pinnacle 4000i and this produced no data at all with gbpvr.
If that device is not otherwise employed, it might be worth putting it in that machine for a little while and I could have a quick check. There maybe something in the new release that helps.

I have a spare I can use.
However I have not got a clue about remote access, but I can open ports etc on my router so should be able to work it out:confused:

OK... thanks the info on the differences between scanning and receiving - that makes sense and increases my minimal knowledge on what is going on.

I wasn't going to get another card, but on reflection and seeing one going cheap, I've gone for it. Promised for Saturday, but my suspicions would be Monday.

Problematical pinnacle card is installed, drivers installed, my attempt at modding BDA.INI is at the top of the file. I've just installed the freebie dvbdream to make sure card, cables and drivers are working and it is at this moment scanning for channels and finding them. Both tuners have working cables feeding them.

dvbdream has scanned and found plenty and shows them ok.

It would be nice to have this card available for folk as a working card as it is very economical for a dual tuner.

My very quick first look showed gbpvr config to be not seeing signal quality well.

Machine online OK and yet again, your time is very much appreciated.

Grrrrrrrrrrr - I'm getting fed up with this

My wintv nova-s arrived this morning (nice and quick) but it would appear to be an ancient Technotrend ?? (anyone confirm from the picture?)

I found a selection of drivers on their site and they install fine, but finish up with something like "unable to start device (code 10)".

I feel the need of the sledgehammer.

I thought all the Hauppage Nova S cards were TechnoTrend? Hauppage don't actually make cards, do they?
Maybe the question is if you have a TT S1500, S1102, S1100 or S1000 version.

WinTV Nova-SE PCIBudget = TT S1400 = no difference, new TT model: Budget S1401

WinTV Nova-S USBConnect = TT S1810 = no difference, new TT model: Connect S1200

WinTV Nova-S PCI Budget = TT S1500. Former models: Budget S1102/1100/1000

WinTV Nova-CI-S PCIBudget = TT S1500+Budget PCI = no difference

WinTV Nexus-S Premium = TT S2300 "modded" TT model has J2 block for RGB/S-Video Out, anywaythe same/identical model as Nexus-S

WinTV Nexus-CAPremium = TT C2300 Hybrid = no difference

WinTV Common Interface3.5" = TT Common Interface Premium = no difference

WinTV Nova-T USB = TT Connect TT T1900 = no difference

WinTV Nova-C USB = TT Connect C1100 = no difference, was rarely sold by Hauppauge new model: Technotrend Connect C1200

That hasnt been true for a long time. Hauppauge have made their own DVB cards for several years now.

They used to have a few rebranded TechnoTrend devices (original Nova-S, original Nova-T and Nexus-S etc), but these days they have a huge number of DVB-S/T and combo devices they make themselves. They no longer sell any rebranded devices.

This original TechnoTrend/Nova-S was a fairly decent card, but I havnt used it myself in several years.
