I wouldn't recommend using the MVP Screen position unless you have a totally wacky monitor. The MVP mpeg player video buffer uses different screen dimensions and does hardware scaling too which you should try to take advantage of.

I think if I could count on the default dongles hardware scaling to fit the screen correctly, I wouldn't use MVPScreenPosition either.

I've has old TVs with lousy Overscan, but even my new Wide Screen loses some screen real estate, making me believe that the MVPs rectangle isn't all that trustworthy.

I find setting the MVP to 16x9 mode (regardless of actual TV shape), and using MVPScreenPosition, I take the dimensions decisions away from the MVP, and I get ALL of my video, with nothing cut off...

BTW, I find I can squeeze a bit more juice out of a CPU if I default the output to 640x480 rather than a DVD 720x480. Although I see the MVP doing screen scaling here too, it's never been consistent...

Thanks for the clarification. And thanks for all your work on this issue. I am using multiple MVPs, so I am thinking transcode as a post processing option. I am concerned about the amount of CPU required to transcode multiple files on the fly at the same time. Can I still use comskip with on the fly transcode? And do I lose the ability to FF and REW if I use on the fly transcode? I like the option to effectively do MVPPosition, but its not much use to me with multiple MVPs with different MVPPositions.

First, you got that Post Processing with ZProcess wasn't ready for primetime?

If you are planning on viewing shows on more than one MVP that require on the fly transcodes, then you can't do on-the-fly. You can't have multiple on the fly transcodes

You may still want to setup MVPScreenPosition for your different MVPs, for menu readability. and if you do a onthefly transcode, ZProcess would load whatever screen coordinates are specific to that MVP...

It may still be a while before I can offer ZProcess' Post Processing feature...

I noticed at digitalhome.ca that you might have an OTA 1080i HD CTV station now CFCN on channel 36.

I'm moving downtown in the next couple of days. I'm looking forward to see if the 7th floor is gonna get me better reception.

Thanks for looking out for that

ummmm, for auto-convert, why not just put the working ffmpeg[or vlc] cmd line into postprocessing.bat? would ensure it ran after recording...
[at least until things get fixed]

Sub, can't you reproduce this? [what the logs show: ffmpeg.exe MPEG2 instead of rest of line] cuz it sure seems like that's what's causing it, unless you're just obscuring the line details from logs...

anybody tried single quotes? Smile
