OK, finally got Xrecord in HD. Boy, that was a very time consuming project.

Will look into the TV Guide "bug" next.

Works perfectly and looks great! Thanks, your efforts are appreciated!Big Grin

BTW...do you know if it is possible to add a "page down" function for navigating through the list of shows by modifying the skin or if this would have to be handled as a new feature for future development? I modify the XRecord skin to show 3 x 4 (rows x columns) and it would be nice to be able to hit a button on the remote to move down 3 rows at a time to scroll through the list faster.

Thanks for all your efforts on the new CS4...it is really taking shape and looking great!

Page down functionality would have to be handled in the plugin.

Hairy Wrote:From the screen shot it looks like you are running the CS-HD version on a 4:3 display. That layout isn't a great fit, check out this post from earlier in the thread.

The two versions appear to be creating a little confusion, so we'll try to make it much more clear on the wiki, when we get to release state.

you're right of course.

That last screenshot as from my 4:3 high res laptop for which I should use the SD version) as opposed to my low res 16:9 tv where the HD version looks great.

You actually explained it very well in one of your other posts. It's principally about aspect ratio rather than resolution.

SD is 4:3 skin in standard res
HD is 16:9 skin in high res

So what my 4:3 laptop ideally needs is a high res SD skin to which your response should rightly be "go and buy a 16:9 laptop like everyone else.." :-)

I cannot reproduce the TV Guide text size "bug". This appears to be an issue with HD displays only? My laptop shows the guide correctly. There is nothing in the skin that sets the ratio of the text, just the text size.

Any other HD users have issues with text size in the guide, let us know.

I see the issue on both my monitor (basic 19" LCD Acer computer monitor 4:3 aspect using DVI connection) and on my HDTV (1080p Samsung HDTV set up as second monitor using DVI)...so my guess is it has something to do with PC configuration, not just the display type/aspect ratio.

I'm at a bit of a loss on this one, I can't reproduce it under any circumstances. I've even tried messing with dpi settings and display aspect ratios.

The listings use a hardcode textstyle " <TextStyle name="ListingStyle"> " so the CS does little more than resize it's value through the plugin. The only last thing I can think of, and the only difference between our use of this textstyle and sub's blue is the fact that we use the NTSC safe white value of "#f0f0f0".

So as a last hail Mary shot could you try the attached TVGuide xml (it's the SD - 7 Channel version), where I've reset the colour to "white".

Cheers

That is curious. I put the skin file in the C":\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\Community-HD\TV Guide" directory and loaded the HD skin...here is what the skin looked like by default, and then what it looked like with <TextStyle name="ListingStyle" color="White" size="5"/> changed in the skin file.

Sorry to drive you nuts on this. Definitely let me know if I can help troubleshoot in some way. If it is any consolation, I'll probably use the TVListings instead of the TV guide once that skin is working (or perhaps that just makes it worse...if I'm the only one seeing this, you are wasting your time!:eekSmile. I'm just hoping to help make the new skin as good as it can be.

just as a reminder, I also have a problem with the TV Guide Text Size. My problem though is that I can't change the size at all, at least not from the GUI. I've tried all manner of settings, and nothing ever changes (yes, I am applying the changes... I am able to make other changes, including the other text sizes).

Also, is there anywhere I can download the latest build of the CS4-SD beta? I know a couple of my other issues have already been fixed, but aren't in the March 11th download.

Thanks

johnsonx42 Wrote:just as a reminder, I also have a problem with the TV Guide Text Size...

Oops! sorry Johnsonx42...I totally forgot where this issue started!Rolleyes ...no disrespect intended!

I tried changing text sizes through the skin plugin and have the same issue in the HD skin...I select a new size, the "TV Guide Text Size" has a "*" next to it (I assume this indicates it has been customized, I then select the apply button, the program reloads, and nothing has changed (and the "*" has dissapeared). I have two buttons for "TV Guide Text Size" and I tried them both...no effect. I also tried this with the original skin.xml file and the skin.xml file you sent me last night...both behave the same.

Johnsonx42...if you are trying to use the new skin all the time (i.e., not just helping to test the beta), then you can easily edit the skin.xml file in any text editing program (wordpad, MS Word, etc.). I do not have the SD skin installed, but I suspect it would be located in at ...\gbpvr\skin2\Community-SD\TV Guide\skin.xml where gbpvr is the location of the gbpvr program directory (usually in the c:\my programs\ folder). If you open this file, one of the first lines will be:

<TextStyle name="ListingStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="11"/>

The number in quotes after "size=" may or may not be 11, but whatever number is there, you can change this to a smaller number and it will make the text size of the grid smaller...might take some trial and error to get the size you like. You need to save the skin.xml file (but you can leave it open in the text editor after you save it) and reload gbpvr and take a look. You need to re-save skin.xml and reload gbpvr after each change for the change to take effect.

If you decide to try this, let us know if your channel names end up too small once you have a reasonable grid font size...seems I may be the only one with that issue and it may help Hairy know if it is worth spending any time on this issue ('sounds like it may be caused by a highly mobile gremlin that will be hard to track down).
