Unlike GBPVR, it only runs in FSE mode when video is playing, so yes you'd probably be able to have external tasks visible.

I wouldnt recommend using the 'VMR9 FSE' option though. It's going to be totally unsupported by me. Continually switching between the two direct3d systems (one used for menus, and the other used for video) is probably going to lead garbage or flashing as it switches between the two, and possibly lead to jerky menus etc. I'm not going to spend any time looking into these type of problems.

hoborg Wrote:Another issue found - some videos (like my m2ts interlaced sample i posted) doesnot use VMR9 custom/VMR9 FSE renderer - there is 2 renderers in graph, VMR9 and VMR9 001. Picture is ok (but wrong AR), DxVA is in use (FFDshow DxVA decoder), but no OSD and F7 doesnot working.
I tried that sample here and it worked fine in the two VMR9 Custom/FSE renders. It only had the one renderer here, and I got the normal OSD, and F7 worked. I'm sure that'll be down to the combination of decoders being used.

Yes, explanation is simple:
You cannot combine DxVA 2.0 system (Vista/Win7) with DxVA 1.0 renderer (VMR9). MPEG-2 DxVA may still be working, but h.264/VC-1 DxVA fall back to SW decoding.
It is like using EVR on WinXP.

WinXP must be used.

Oh, i missed that...
BTW, nPVR should be marked as Vista/Win7 only (EVR only).

That'd be silly. There is a lot of happy XP users. At the end of the day, I didnt write these various renderers, and there is a very little I can do about quirks they have. Most people have managed to find settings that they're happy enough with for their particular setup.

Hi.
Can i have few questions?

What renderer (VMR7/9 or EVR) do you use? You have ATI 4200 GPU?

For me on my old single core 3.2ghz dell with the less than stellar nvidia 9500GT, I had good luck with VMR7 and the orig. gabest mpeg splitter to the nvidia pure video decoder for mpeg and cyberlink pdvd7 decoder for h.264. You have to set the NPVR display state to "fill" for the aspect ratio to be correct, but works well on mpg, ts and m2ts content with dxva1 acceleration on all and no tearing. Also, you have to disable the forced mpg option in the config.xml.

One note, I did like the old gbpvr render (1.2.9 and before) better because it put the vmr7 into mixing mode. Love to be able to do that with npvr.
