Also note that this interface won't currently work with IPTV,  I thought it was was a transcoding API but it is designed more for sub's own web browser client and it doesn't transcode IPTV.

Thanks to a Kodi dev there is now timeshifted transcoding.    The timeshift file is actually buffered on the device which I didn't like at first but from a remote location it actually makes sense.  How many minutes of buffer do you think you would use?   I am trying to figure out a good slider interval.

Great news Martin...I would go for 60 minutes for starters...

That happens to be the Kodi default. I will probably do it in 15 minute increments for 2 hours and see how that looks.

Thanks.

@aderlopas I you have a chance could you test the timesifted transcoding in v6.0.3 or higher of the addon and let me know how it goes.

Thanks. There was an issue with 6.0.3 release maybe it hasn't made it to the android mirrors yet. After you upgrade to 6.0.3 you need to to the dependencies tab on NextPVR to install the optional addon inputstream.ffmpegdirect that provides timeshift. It has some options too.

So far on the installation of the addon on windows I noticed that InputStream ffmpeg direct although listed in prerequisites it did not get installed automatically when I installed Nextpvr. I had to install it afterwards...

I made it optional as noted above because most people will never use this feature. Also one linux a user is forced to install via their distro so making it mandatory would make it much harder to install or upgrade the basic addon.

It seems to be working, but...

what I noticed:

1. When I click on the channel it takes long time to start and the channel name does not turn Green
2. When I press to go to the beginning it goes, but I hear audio for about 5 seconds and then the video starts playing...
3. Pause/start seems to be working fine
4. Go to end seems to also be wroking fine

I hope that helps

Above tests were with 480p transcoding...
Just tried 720p, it turned green when I pressed the channel but I waited a long time and eventually it failed...
I will put it in debug mode and upload logs

Thanks for the feedback sounds positive.

1 - that should be the same as with the original transcoded mode. The delay should be about the same as you see using NextPVR web it's just the Kodi doesn't let me display any status info because that is blocked by the backend

2 - That would be an issues you could report on the Kodi forum to developer @phunkyfish. It isn't using NextPVR at all at that point. I guess you could confirm that you NextPVR is using h/w transoding and it is not a CPU issue.

3 - Note that pause uses memory

Thanks again
