If you wonder whether you can use the pvr-350's tv-out to see your desktop or anything on your computer, the answer is no. It can only be used to view mpeg-streams (and gbvpr's user interface  [Image: tounge.gif] )

I'll check that option out. Hadn't seen it before, though.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (sub @ Oct. 25 2004,12:45)]Yes, it is a bug in a driver. I've used a system debugger to break into a system when it has the problem. It's stuck in middle of the driver code which deals with OSD.

I've talked informally with Hauppauge about the problem. The Sage guys have also talked to them about it. Unfortunately this was nearly eight months ago, but I dont think the hardware decoder is top of their priority list. Remember, the decoder was only used in one product (PVR350), and has been dropped from all the products that came after it.

Hauppauge dont use the PVR350's OSD so have not come across the problem. Its only really GB-PVR and SageTV which really see the problem, but I dont think either of us have a relationship with Conexant who supply the drivers and originally wrote the decoder and OSD drivers.

What about an option to disable OSD in Live-TV with PVR350 in GB-PVR!?

Looks like PVR-350 driver version 22292 has been officially released. It's now available on the Hauppauge site:

I just upgraded to the new drivers (22292).  I ran HWClear, restarted, pointed Windows to the new drivers, restarted, and now when I try to start GB-PVR, it says "No available PVR-350 was detected in the system."  The recording service works though.  One of my previously scheduled recordings is recording, and I can see the file size growing.  I ran the configuration utility (but didn't change anything), and pressed ok, but that didn't help.  I checked the device manager, and the drivers seem to be installed correctly.

I tried reinstalling the old drivers (22254), and it still didn't work. I tried repairing the GB-PVR installation, and that didn't work. The only way I got it to work was to use the Windows XP Home system restore, and now it works (with the 22254 drivers). Who knew Windows actually had a useful feature? Wink

Has anybody gotten the new drivers working yet?

I have a PVR-350, BTW.

Follow the directions on Hauppauge's website (at the link I listed above) for installing/updating your driver. I believe you also need to install what they call the "driver updater".

From the Hauppauge site: "After Windows has loaded the base driver, run the PVR250_22_22292.exe driver updater."

I've installed the new (22292) drivers and tried live TV twice. Both times my system locked up. The second time was on the 3rd channel change.

My system:
Sony RX550 Pentium IV 1.4GHz, XP Home, PVR-350.
