I stand corrected! I am sure I read somewhere that my Nova HD S2 card was a TechnoTrend - will have to research more...

My wintv nova-s arrived this morning (nice and quick) but it would appear to be an ancient Technotrend ?? (anyone confirm from the picture?)

I found a selection of drivers on their site and they install fine, but finish up with something like "unable to start device (code 10)".

I feel the need of the sledgehammer.

I did offer my PC for Sub to access - but I think it's too late now, as I read somewhere that the new release of GBPVR is out this weekend:eek:

The original list you posted was correct back in early 2005 but those products are no longer sold by Hauppauge. Since then digital TV has really taken off, and Hauppauge now makes dozens of their own DVB devices, PCI, PCIexpress, USB, single/dual tuner, digital only, digital+analog etc.

Unfortunately the release plan had to get pushed forward to this weekend when I found out (a couple of days ago) that I'd need to travel for work this week. I'll be out of the country for three weeks from Wednesday. This forced me to tidy up a few loose ends and get the release out rather than making everyone wait another month or so. Unfortunately this meant a few other things needed to fall through the cracks.

I've worked out that the card I have is a 1500 budget I think - the drivers load OK but can't initialise the card. It will be going to back to it's sender on Monday!

I remembered that little brother had satellite internet a few years ago before broadband got into the wilds of Yorkshire and I popped down to borrow his tuner - an old Technisat Sky2PC device. Sadly it looks like another that won't scan for channels, but does receive channels from an imported cache file.

Anyway, have a successful business trip sub and I hope you manage to get a bit of free time off as well.

Cheers Graham - Yes, I found those on the UK forum, but the links are dead now.
I did eventually find the drivers that I think they were pointing to and that is teh one that is currently loading OK, but not starting the card.

After much huffing and puffing, I have a working card and working drivers. Old wintv Nova-s dated 1998.

Anyway it works and on the machine sub was VNCing into, I uninstalled the beta, installed the current version as a new install, setup the tuner and did a scan. It scanned all the way through and there are 1145 lines in the scan cache file - and the names look ok.

Time to play now........

Great - thats good news. I think you had a particularly bad run with by previously picking what looked to be the two least-compatible-with-GBPVR DVB-S tuner devices in existance.
