Another quick update - I removed the 'rename=yes' flag and the process ran successfully (except, obviously no rename was performed) so I'm guessing the issue lies in that area of code...

Eureka! It looks like the app is looking for a default location for a Vista/Win7 machine (i.e. users\public) versus the actual location (program files\npvr\data) - The tail end of the output is attached..

That helps quite a lot - two database locations :0)

Give this version a try please:

Looks like that did the trick! Many thanks! One other question... I noticed that a number of series were marked as movies as they were missing the 'season' indicator. I'm not sure if this is related to the app issues but do you know if there is a way to remedy this so that these at least end up in the series directory (e.g. is it just a matter of changing an entry in the DB somewhere?)

Thanks again for all of your help and support - its very much appreciated!

No problem, I will post to the wiki soon - as to the series being called a movie - I default to movie if it can't figure out if it is a series. Can you zip your original guide info (or a few days worth) and point out which ones it is mislabeling, it may be an issue due to using the media center date rather than schedulesDirect

I've uploaded as assortment of data which hopefully will be helpful in your testing - one good example is 'Harry and His Bucketful of Dinosaurs', another is 'Team Umizoomi' where some were correctly marked as series and others were not. I'm using MC2XML in case that's relevant - If you need anything please let me know.

Thanks again!

I am temporarily swamped but will take a look over the holiday break - why 256M files??? What is with microsoft, I have ten days of guide with 80-100 channels and its 15M. Seems MC2XML always adds all channels. :0(

I'm afraid I might have encountered a ID-10-T error (or PEBKAC Smile) - In digging a bit deeper it looks like I was reusing an old EPG download in my batch file from my earlier attempts to track the GP crash issue so I think the file rename is working now - sorry about the confusion!

Thanks very much for all of your help - have a great Xmas!

Well, I finally got around to setting up and configuring guidePlus. It's taken about 3 hours so far, and I'm not finished. First, had to learn how to use XMLTV. Then how to use it with Schedules Direct (which, if I'm honest, was a major pain in the ass I was planning to avoid by choosing NPVR in the first place). Also had to edit and troubleshoot the epgupdate.bat and gPlus.cmd files. Which I think are now right, but haven't tested them (they don't seem to run right just by double-clicking). I have run the individual lines, though, so I've got my two channel lineups, they're concatenated, and guidePlus has been run on them once.

Now I've got a guide that is in many ways better than the standard Schedules Direct data, but in at least a few important ways is much *worse* than with the standard Schedules Direct support in NPVR. For example:

- XMLTV seems to assume that if I've got a channel coming in over-the-air, then I don't need another copy in my cable lineup. But of course I do, because I've got both an ATSC tuner and a pair of Hauppauge Colossus cards for cable! All the channel numbers for the duplicated channels are now messed up, which messes up my season recordings. For example, OTA channel 2-1 should be listed (somewhat arbitrarily) as channel 902, and also as channel 209, which matches the cable box lineup. How can I fix this so it's like the two separate lineups NPVR generates natively from Schedules Direct?

- guidePlus seems to do a pretty good job of going and getting additional information about shows, but the problem I worried about right from the start -- i.e., that several of the shows I want to record with NPVR *don't have* extra information in The TVDb, etc. -- has reared its ugly head. For example, a current HGTV Canada show I record called "Leave It To Bryan" now has descriptions that feature Wally and the Beaver -- meaning guidePlus has used a source that clearly confuses it with "Leave It To Beaver". The Schedules Direct information wasn't particularly robust, but at least it was right. How do I prevent guidePlus from mangling the data for this (and perhaps other) shows?

I can see that guidePlus is going to be great, but for the moment I think I need some serious assistance to get there. Please?
