I'm not sure, I'm just saying that if Newcs dies, Acamd will hang waiting for response from Newcs. Same thing with Ntray and Nrecord.

Is it normal that recording started 9:42 and ended at 11.00 but newcs first entry is 10:46:09 and last entry 10:53:03?

And I tried the next: I stopped process newcs.exe and started watching a digital channel. Then I do get an entry in acamd.log.
But what if newcs.exe freezes (but is not killed), would there be no entry in acamd.log?

And what if acamd would freeze, would newcs.log have normal entries?

In menu recordings, NPVR says "Recording service was stopped during recording".
But the locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 seem to indicate there's no signal.
Could it be that because there's no signal, recording service didn't stop, but frooze causing the NTray malfunction. Maybe that wouldn't show in the logs.
Maybe Sub can answer these.

And finally, I don't understand how everything could have functioned normal at 7:47, but not later in the morning.

In newcs.log there is a entry at 10:46 (during recording time), which is too late (and lasts too short, but there is):
[ 10:46:09 ] [ Newcamd:15050 ] User gebruiker1 logged in, client: Generic

There is no entry at that time in acamd, but there is in the next part of the acamd.log (which was added after I posted it): (I attached this second log in this post)
16:23:59.816: ACamd v0.6.1.8

If newcs of acamd were crashed, they wouldn't have functioned at a later time.
There's no event in windows event viewer that suggests any problem with these.

Question remains why newcs started too late and ended to soon and why there's no log entry at 10:46:09 in acamd.

Quick question Wim, how do you set up NewCS to log to a file?

This is a fragment of my newcs.xml where this setting is made:

<debug>
<level>normal</level>
<type>init</type>
<output>file</output>
<logfile>C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs\newcs.log</logfile>
<console_options>normal, init</console_options>
<tcp_port>1001</tcp_port>
<password>DebugPass</password>
<tcp_options>normal, init</tcp_options>
</debug>

You need to have it turned on for my batch file (and have the same location for the log-file or edit the batch-file), should have explained that to you, sorry.

But back to my problem. Sub, maybe you have an idea? We seem to be stuck in what if's. I don't know how NPVR reacts to certain situations.

Sorry, I don't know how these multidec plugins behave if its card server isn't available, or misbehaving. I'm sure it'll vary depending on the plugin and the card server etc. NextPVR will just record whatever comes out of the multidec plugin.

Sub, what does this entry in ndigital host mean:
2012-11-23 09:42:22.032 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0
Does it mean NPVR is getting no signal?

In menu recordings, NPVR says "Recording service was stopped during recording". Can you see that in the logs? Is that this entry?
2012-11-23 09:42:22.409 [DEBUG][8] recording service dequeued request to cancel (2500)
Could it be caused by getting no signal? Could that in turn cause ntray to malfunction? Shouldn't that be seen in the logs?

How do acamd and newcs working together and with NPVR? Does NPVR ask acamd for signal, which listens to newcs for decryption?
If so, why would there be no entry in acamd logs if it was newcs that caused the problem?

I've got another one. Some things the same, some things different:

I tried to record a show that started 19.55. After a few minutes I checked and saw there's nothing recorded. Stopped and restarted NewCS and restarted the recording (19:58) , again nothing recorded. After that I recorded the show with the analogue card. Both failed recordings have a length of 0s and 0kB.

On both occasions in ndigitalhost I get:
2012-11-24 19:55:03.297 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)
and
2012-11-24 19:58:16.222 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

But this time I get a lot of "File length is still zero." (which is correct) in nrecord.log and this time ntray didn't freeze.

At 19:58 I stopped and restarted newcs. Because of this the newcs.log was overwritten so I don't have that anymore, but the new newcs.log starts with a normal entry. Despite that, no entry in acamd.

IMHO I think that acamd is malfunctioning. Not only in this instance, but also in the previously described problem. I think that because acamd didn't work, it (acamd) didn't ask newcs for decrypting info.

Anyone?
