Hi,

I've written a little plugin to allow the popular SkyStar2 DVB-S card to be used with GB-PVR. You can find out more about the plugin, and download it here.

It's a little basic at the moment; in particular there's no automatic transponder scanning, so all the channel tuning information has to be entered into a config file. Tuning info for some channels from a few of the European satellites is included to get you going (if you live in Europe, of course!).

Hope this of use. Feel free to ask any questions over on the Plugin Support forum.

Regards,
Tim

Hi Tim,

trying the SkyStar2 with no success. I get the following error message in the SS2Recorder.dll.log file

startRecording(C:\TV-3-20520060416_0000.mpg,201)
Adding filters to graph: Couldn't add the MPEG Multiplexer.
Couldn't create graph.

I am using the latest version of TechniSat drivers which is in my case 4.3.0.9999.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers, Ulrich

Hi Tim,

I am one step further ... but unfortunately still no go.

The error message in log file is the following:

startRecording(C:\TV-5-20820060416_1728.mpg,1)
Adding filters to graph: success.
Establishing Graph Builder: success.
Connecting pins: success.
Configuring demultiplexer: success.
Connecting multiplexer to filewriter: success.
Tuning: Couldn't Tune Transponder.
Couldn't tune channel.
Found 0 PIDS to remove: success.

I have setup the channels in GBPVR and configured the same number in the SS2Channel.txt file (e.g. Das Erste) ... with no success.

Funny enough that the Setup4PC utility is on green configured for ASTRA 19.2E and changes to red (now the Setup4PC utility has changed automatically to ASTRA 23.5 E) as soon as I start the TV function in GBPVR.

Any ideas?

What does your Setup4PC "Transponder Status" screen look like when you try watch with GB-PVR? Make sure you pick "Current Settings" from the pull down box at the top left.

For example, if I tune to ARD1 (Das Erste) on 19.2E, I get a picture like the one attached. Could you have a check and see what you get? This will tell us if GB-PVR is tuning to the channel correctly.

Tim, working out of town ... but I will try ASAP. But I am pretty sure after launching GBPVR the "Setup4PC" is not on "CurrentSettings".

Let you know the outcome.

Hiya,

I am having similar problems getting this to work but am keen to try and find a resolution. I was just about to ditch my SkyStar 2 and get a PVR150 to use with an external Satellite decoder but this solution looks ideal - if I can get it to work.

I have installed the plugin, registered the Connector, setup the EPG, changed the channels to map to those in SS2Channels.txt but when I try and watch a program I am getting the following in the log file and SetUp4PC is showing 0% and does not reflect the channel I am on:

startRecording(E:\LiveTV\The McCartneys v the Fur Trade_6_20060419_21002200.mpg,101)
Adding filters to graph: success.
Establishing Graph Builder: success.
Connecting pins: success.
Configuring demultiplexer: success.
Connecting multiplexer to filewriter: success.
Couldn't query the data control interface.
Couldn't create graph.

Any suggestions? This looks like it could be a brilliant plugin and I really appreciate you spending the time in developing it. I just need a little help to get it working!

Don't worrry- I'm sure we can make it work! My first thought is that it sounds like a driver problem; what version of the Technisat driver are you using?

Thanks Tim,
I shall check when I am home tonight. I also have ProgDVB and DVBViewer installed which may be causing a conflict. I am quite happy to deinstall everything and then just install the bare minimum to try and solve this - I was just about to ditch the card anyway so I have nothing to lose!

My driver version is 4.2.1.9999, I shall try deinstalling the other Viewer applications and give it another try
