The cause of "actively refused" is caused by the gbpvr.exe as it tries to
communicate via socket with the gbpvrRecordingService.exe.

Only the service is not installed.

So when I try to net stop/net start it only causes error events to event log.
And when I try to manually install the service with installutil.exe
it does not install. The log for installutil.exe is as an attachment.

How can I install the recording service?
Is there any restrictions with .net versions?

I think you'll need to uninstall and reinstall to get the service correctly installed.

I'm surprised. I havnt seen this other users in the last year or so.

Now the Recording service is installed but fails when tried to start.

the event log has text:
Service cannot be started. System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An invalid argument was supplied
at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel.StartListening(Object data)
at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel.SetupChannel()
at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel..ctor(Int32 port)
at GBPVR.RecordingService.RecordingService.OnStart(String[] xf18a926310372520)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)

Do you have any log files produced? If so, post them.


This is a very strange error to get, which I've not seen reported in the past. Are you running as administrator on your machine? Do you have a network card on the machine in question?

The machine is a Dell Laptop D800.
It has network and WLAN.
I'm using the wlan and the normal network is
shown as deactivated.

I'm using the machine as administrator.

I'm not home now so I can't give you the logs now.
I read the GBPVR.exe-log and the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-log.
The first just said that it can't connect "actively refused". The recording service log was like starting,reading config stuff and then stoping. There
was nothing obvious in error messages in the log. But I can send you the logs.

Can this be caused by another socket server program listening the same port as the GBPVR? How can I check if the port is already in use?
The port is defined by the config.xml. So if I change the port there ...

I can't get the Recording service to start.
Tried to change the port value to 9999.
No effect.

But here are the logs.

Sorry, I dont know. I cant see any errors in the logs.
