Why isn't it already? This project would grow exponentially, plugins can only do so much. I'd like to see GB-PVR take MediaPortals place as the best GNU PVR, which it would already be if the core engine's source code were released. Please Smile

Sorry, but its never going to happen. Even if I did want to (which I dont), I couldnt due to the many non-disclosure agreements I've had to sign to gain access to information about various pieces of hardware.

it's good info tho cuz i never even thought about the NDA side of things... companies are so tight lipped about everything, probably why nobody else's software works as good as this one Smile so let it be closed.. and we all benefit.. weee!

I agree that there seems to be a a few questions that routinely get asked, and it gets annoying replying with the same stock answer time after time.

Maybe it is time for a general FAQ/sticky thread detailing some of these main responses. Here on the forum or wiki.

For example some routinely asked questions: (Please add more as you see fit)
Why GBPVR is not Open source?
Object reference not set to an instance of an object?
Why can't GBPVR use an open source dB?
Before posting a support question, have you tried these steps first?
What are the log files and where to find them?
What are codecs and why you need them?
Difference between hardware and software encoding, why only certain encoder cards work with GBPVR? Otherwise try a certain plugin to see if it works?

These are some examples from recent memory.
