I have a Hauppauge PVR-150, Windows XP, and a RADEON 7000 video card.

I keep getting a blue screen crash while running GB-PVR. I thought it only happened when it's recording, but that may not be true. I also get FFMPEG crashes from time to time. I thought this had to do with transcoding, but again, I could be wrong.

Any ideas? I couldn't really find any blue screen or general crashing problems in the forum.

well it's definately a hardware problem, not a problem with gbpvr or ffmgeg that results in xp giving a blue screen.

someone else recently had a similar problem with running comskip and I advised them to clear all the dust from their cpu heatsink, which appeared to work. Might be worth checking.

you could try stressing the system using a stress test program such as S&M

http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/english.html?/be_cpu.html

[edit]: Also check that the cpu fan is clean and spinning freely.

see if you can reproduce the problem and then try it with the case removed from the pc. if this appears to fix it, you probably have insufficient cool air being pulled into the case.

Well, I know that FFMPEG is, in fact, crashing. I don't know if that's the cause of the blue screens or not.

I just recently converted my desktop (which has run fine for many years) to a GB-PVR box by adding the PVR-150 and teh RADEON. When I installed those cards, I did clear out the dust. I don't think that's what it is.

Thank you for the useless replies insulting my computer.

Of course it's clean and of course it has a good enough power supply. If you can't come up with any other answer than a cop-out like those, just don't reply. Even replies like "SWITCH TO LINUX LOL" are better.

What you've all said is the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I guess that rules out the power supply as being the cause of the crashes then..

and not even any points, damn.

Actually, it seems that it rules out any components in the computer as being the cause of the crashes.

I have just received a private email from boohis, expressing his sincere apologies to everyone on the forums for his previous post.

Anyway, it appears that one of the case fans wasn't working, resulting in an overheating problem.
