Quote:When do you anticipate a release?
Unfortunately its going to be a while, I've just started development a few days ago. Before that I was pretty much out of the country since the 1.0.16 release was made.

Quote:Any chance you could offer it as a patch update?
Unfortunately I'm in a position to make patches any more, my build has moved on and no longer compatible with 1.0.16.

OK, I'm certainly willing to wait given what a great piece of software it is!

I guess you don't keep old copies of your source code that correspond with the 1.0.16 release? If so, I'd even be willing ot test out those two additional lines on a compile of the older source code.

Sorry, I only maintain the one branch on my development machine. I do have source control to get back old versions of code in emergencies, but its a big pain to do this so I not going to bother.

OnlineSpending,

I also was experiencing severe tearing problems with an nVidia AGP 8x card (xFX nVidia GeForce 6200). Luckily, I also had a spare ATI AGP 9550 board that I had been using in my prior HTPC build. I swapped out the nVidia card for the ATI card, without making any other changes to my system and the tearing disappeared completely. I don't think that some of the lower-end nVidia AGP graphics cards can keep up with any sort of fast panning in a video image. Best of luck with your HTPC build.

Regards,

- Patrick

well the new ati cards are even worse (2400HD)
i dont think its a matter of keeping up i think its a matter of the newer cards do something screwy with the picture that SD mpeg playback doesnt like

I think you've just had a bad run though...

The comments I've read on the net dont sound as bad as your experience.

dont know what you have been reading the review i read the other day said pretty much the exact same thing (after i brought the card doh)
atis drivers dont even load with the card is that an indication that the testing has not been done to a level that is satisfactry

im not rubbishing the card im saying theres something in the drivers or the way that interlaced standard def is handled by the new cards that doesnt work

ill shut up now
my list of manufactures who i wont buy from is gettinglonger though

I'll go with this.
sometimes.
I've got an agp 5200 & a PCI 6200 & a whole slew of different PC's I use for testing.

Sometimes, there is no rhyme or reason as to why a geforce card won't work in a certain PC when it comes to panning & such but swapping in an ATI card makes it all better.

Alternatively, I have more color problems with ATI cards than I do with Nvidia cards.

Also, I can take my geforce cards out of 1 GHZ+ machines & put them in older 600mhz to 800mhz PC's & they will work so perfectly I just want to log on & say I can time shift on a 750mhz Athlon with a gforce 5200!!!

I've found that on fresh windows installs simply upgrading the gforce drivers can cause problems.

You need to eradicate the drivers using driver cleaner or some such similiar application then you can install the latest drivers without issue & most times this will fix a lot of my video issues.

Again though i've seen no guarantee.

You could be right. I dont have any first hand experience with them yet. I've been reading the threads on avsforums though. I've always had better experiences with ATI cards for video playback in the past, so I may be a bit over optimistic.

I've actually got a ATI HD 2600pro here ready to put into my machine, but I havnt found time to play yet. I bought it back from the US with me last month. I'm primarily hoping to use it for acceleration of the Kordia DVB-T h.264 test transmissions that are starting around the country.

sub can you hurry up and put it in i want to see what you reckon
although you will be on vista(guessing) which is another thing they probably dont really test them on xp
