First of all I'm new to gbpvr and have gone from a blank box to a well working system in about 2 days with all the great help from this community. Thank you!

And to the authors of GBPVR, your work is outstanding, I cant thank you enough giving the pvr community such and amazing piece of software...

heres the Q's

1. When i pause live tv or recorded tv is there a way to show on screen my position in the playback file relative to real time....like a progress bar?

2. Does winxp mce provide me with any substantial advantages over win2k sp4 that cannot be added via 3rd party application?

3. If i switch over to windows xp, all i have is the MCE 2005 edition, but I heard mce 2005 services conflict with other pvr software. I also read about a batch file that will disable the mce services in mce 2005, I really have to care to use any of microsofts applications, i would rather stay as far away from them as possible and just use 3rd party apps for various personal reasons. Will disabling those services allow me to use MCE 2005 as a basic XP and prevent conflicts with GBPVR?? This is important as I really hate reinstalling windows and want to make sure before i go thru the trouble.

4. When playing recorded stuff, is there a way to resume playing from the previous position after i go into a menu and then back to the recording....it seems that when i go to the main gbpvr menu while in playback....that i loose the spot where i was watching and have to fast forward to get back to it....

5. I changed the name on a file in my recordings folder and that recording disappeared from the listing in gbpvr....how do i re add it?

Thanks for all your help!!

If it's working for you on win2k sp4, it probably isn't worth the hassle of a new OS install - I have no problems running it on win2k and using TV and MVPs. tipster mentioned improved networking on xp, so if you are having network problems it may be worth a look, but as I said - win2k is still working fine for me (and I really dislike xp Smile )

cheers,

yes i have major dislikes over XP, my old office computer was converted to XP by the it staff and i began having stability issues with many of the apps i used....therefore avoid xp in my home pcs....

I think i've got my version 2 mce remote that came with the pvr150mce kit i got to work also under win2k so that was a major sticking point up until now...just need to get hip fully configured...sent my first command with a blaster earlier tonight to my old vcr....

1> should happen automatically, although on my system some decoders dont display it and some do, so if you're not seeing a green progress bar along the top of the screen and an info panel along the bottom when you pause, try some different decoders. It also depends what skin you're using so stick with the Blue one till youve got the functionality that you want working.

4> this should also work 'out of the box' like Tipster states. You can also hit the 'resume' button which should appear on the information popup when you select a program from the Recordings screen. Cant remember if it does the same from the Video Library but i assume so.

5> Presume you're talking about the recording disappearing from the Recordings screen? this drags the info from the database, and any files it cant find it will delete the associated reference from the database and thus Recordings screen. theres a few utilitys on the wiki for scanning a folder and adding recordings back into the database once the reference has been lost, and the RenameRecording one is quite popular for ammending your recordings immediatly after recording is finished and then updating the database to point to the new file name.
