This might just be me missing something obvious, but as I have been avoiding all plugins recently, I have been using the standard Music Library, and although music will stop when you press the "pause" key, I can't seem to get it to restart from the same place - pushing "pause" again does nothing, and "play" starts playing the selected song from the beginning. Any suggestions? (I've been listening to some longer classical passages recently, and it's a pain restarting them when I only intended to pause it to answer the phone etc).

cheers,

I just checked the pause in ML2, not paused for long (like 10 seconds) and once paused, play restarts. Not sure if i had coded it that way, or if that was default gbpvr remote handling.

Sorry to hear you have this problem but pleased because i thought it would only be me.

I have exactly the same problem. I can confirm that with "Music Library" and reven's "My Music" plugin, if I pause a track and then press pause again, nothing happens. If I press play after pause, it restarts the track. This happens every time I try to play a track. Very frustrating as I am using gvpvr to play spanish learning tracks on a CD that requires the listener to pause and play repeatedly.

I posted in reven's forum and this is what he had to say "my music never handles the "pause" button itself, it doesnt do anything with this button (unless you edit the keymappings files and add it). So gbpvr should then handle the pause button. If for some reason its not, it's probably windows media player getting in the way.

To be sure, test it by editing the config.xml file and set <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio> to false (or whatever the exact tag name is).

i keep asking sub to "unhardcode" the music buttons, but he's rather busy. The problem would probably go away if you could alter the keys so for example Play became the key "/" or something where the "ctrl" key is never used. thats the major issue windows media player consumes the "ctrl" key sometimes."

I haven't had a chance to test his idea - perhaps you could and report back here??

Regards

I'm afraid I have already tried setting the "use media player for audio" to false, with no success. I might try installing a music plugin and see if it has a different behaviour.

Hi,
This issue is already reported *way* ago. However, sub has not changed it as of yet. It makes the waf lower as pause in music is not the same as pause in movies...

But I stil have hope sub will address this ;-)

mabo - bad news indeed. I am going to have to ditch gbpvr for the time being then, as I have to have pause/restart to learn from my Spanish CDs. Seems a real shame.

Presumably I can still use some windows player or other to play the spanish learning tracks? Sorry for such an obvious question but I only use linux for the rest of my network - when someone can come up with a decent linux media centre replacement I can get rid of windows on my last machineWink

I've justed tested this here and it seems to working ok for me. What screen are you on when you press pause? The currently active screen gets first go at the keypress, prior to the default handlers...so if, for example, you're on the Music Library screen listening to some audio, and you press pause, the audio will pause (since this key isnt used for anything on this screen), BUT if you then press play and a song is highlighted, the screen will handle the play key the way it normally does (by starting playback of the selected song).

As a test start a song playing, then switch back to the main menu, or any other screen not using the 'Play' key. Do pause and play now work correctly for you?

mabo is talking about something different than you're talking about. He wants to be able to resume playback with the 'pause' key rather than the 'play' key which is currently required.

You're right sub - "Play" does unpause music, but of course only when it doesn't do something else first, so in future I will try to remember to exit to the main menu before pausing. Is there any way to make the pause button a toggle pause/play sort of setup?

No, not at this stage. If I remember, I'll add it for the next release.
