Sub,

No problems so far, but you might want to change your copyright notices to read 2003-2004, instaead of just 2003.

Sorry if this was discussed somewhere else, but I just found your site tonight and downloaded and gave a go with your GBPVR and my MediaMVP. I seems to work fine, except I can't hardly read anything! I have a NTSC 42" pllasma, and the lettering is soooo blocky I can't make anything out.

I saw shspvr talking about changing some parameters. Will that help in my case, and if so where do I do that at?

Or do I just need to be patient and wait for you to work out the bugs for NTSC? [Image: biggrin.gif]

Oh yea, and I'm using version 2.0.22030 of the MVP software.

Thanks!

Since you have a plasma and probably have a bit better control over the overscan than a normal TV, you could try setting you config.xml to the following:

<!-- MVP Settings -->
<MVPWidth>720</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>480</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>0</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>

Another thing worth trying is going into your desktop Display Properties (right mouse button off desktop), and on the advance tab click effects. Make sure the 'smooth font edges is checked' and even try both of the methods (ClearType/Standard). ClearType will probably look the best.

Also another thing that can be done is the font style and size can be changed in the skin.xml files. The screen that is probably causing you the most problem is TV Guide where its got a lot of information to show. Try bumping the font size up in the selected skins tvguide\skin.xml file. You'll see less but it should be easier to read.

Maybe at some point I'll develop a skin specifically for the MVP. Larger fonts and all that...

SHS, you were right - the MVPOffsetY was broken. I've fixed it for the next release.

I tried your suggestions, and that helped a little bit. I also tried setting the resolution to 853x480, my plasma's native resolution, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Next I tried upping the font size, and that just made the lettering look like bigger crap! I think my problem is with the Tahoma font. Maybe I don't have it installed on my computer!?! I've had my plasma hooked up as a computer monitor before, and have a fair idea what the text should be able to look like and I'm no where close currently.

I had to go off to work, so I couldn't mess around anymore this morning, but I'll try again tonight for sure. I'll let you know how it goes....

Thanks,
Jason

Regarding the MediaMVP support...

How does this work? I am still struggling to get LiveTV to work on the server, so I can't yet view it over the network, but so far I have pulled up the guide on the MVP. Will it be possible to stream LiveTV and /or recorded shows to one (or more) MediaMVP clients while also viewing other shows on the host PC? Or by using the MVP am I tying up the host?

Thanks,
Chris

Ok, I have the reason for the chunky-ness. It looks much smoother now. This will be included in the next release.

Anything we can change manually in this release to get rid of the chunkyness?
