Hi,

As the title says, I have the latest GBPVR and the auto aspect works great for liveTV, however when I play back a recording, I get what looks like a 4:3 output on my widescreen TV.

I checked this wasnt just old recordings by watching liveTV, then recording the same, playback of the recorded was wrong (though using F7 gets the correct aspect ratio back).

Any Ideas?

What device made the recording? What was the file type mpg/dvr-ms/avi?

Sub,

I have a PVR150 and a PCI Nova-T. Both work fine in LiveTV.

I think it was the Mpeg recording from the PVR150 that went funny, but I cannot remember now. I will do some more testing tonight and post the results.

Thanks

Are you definitely in the 'Auto' aspect ratio, or one of the others?

All recordings produced by the PVR150 are marked as 4:3 aspect ratio.

Sub,

I have a very similar problem. I use a standard 4:3 TV set and sometimes there are about 1cm black borders left and right. hitting the F7 once says auto without correcting the aspect ratio, cycling trough all options back to auto corrects the aspect. This does not happen always and I have not been able to detect a patern yet.

How big is your tv?

Some broadcasters/channels do transmit a black bar on the left and right of the tv picture. You normally dont see this though since the tv overscan means its would be off the side of the screen.

My TV is (still) a simple 55 cm. When I get back from work tonight I will check this. My sun told me in the mean time it happens with 2 specific shows which seems to point to the same you say.

Sub,

Wasnt able to check last night - TV on full time, however how do I check that I am definately in auto-aspect ratio (or force it to only use this for testing purposes)?

I note that some people say it displays this on screen when presing F7 (which I have mapped to my remote), but I do not get this.

Do you use 97.9? It was introduced in that version.

Stefan,

Yes, I use 97.9 (the latest). The config.xml does have the autoaspect ratio as the first of the options.
