I tried to upgrade from version 0.96.12 to version 0.97.9, but one of my capture cards keeps disappearing. I have three capture cards: one WinTV PVR 250 and two WinTV PVR MCE's. The 250 and one of the 150's are connected directly to the cable, and the other 150 comes through a cable box (in order to get digital and premium channels).

After I installed 0.97.9, one of the PVR 150's disappeared from the "Capture Sources", so I added it to the list, saved the configuration, and retarted the recording service. I started Config again, and the card had disappeared again. I tried this a couple more times after restarting and trying to fix the Microsoft MDAC, all to no avail.

I finally gave up, reinstalled version 0.96.12, and found all of my original capture sources, plus all the new ones I set up were showing up under "Capture Sources."

Computer configuration:
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3400+
2 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro w/SP2
.NET 2.0 installed

I had the same problem too. I have a 150 and had two recording sources: one from my TV and another from my VCR. Both disappeared and I couldn't watch Live TV. After reading this thread I decided to not even try to re-install the recording sources but rolled back to my previous version (0.96.12) and go from there. Sad Luckily I had followed Sub's advice and saved my .mdb and confix.xml file.

I would like to be able to go forward so I could move over to SQL-Lite. I had read where, with the indexing script being run in the database, changing channels would be much faster. It's a nit, but that has been one issue I'd like to see fixed for quite some time.

Computer configuration:
Intel Celeron 2.66GHz
512MB RAM
W2000 Server w/ SP4
.NET 2.0 installed

Try adding the capture source, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

DETurner,

I posted a reply on the latest version but just in case you didn't see it...

I was able to resolve my situation by two simple steps:

1) Remove my plugins - it's easy to add them back in so go for it.
2) Rename the Plugin Folder so it's not there as far as GB-PVR is concerned.

I then ran the install and my capture sources were intact. The install creates a new Plugin folder so you can then go back in and add your plugins again.

Give it a try - the new version, especially with SQL-Lite instead of Access, is much better and channel changing is much quicker.
