Timeshifting in 97.13

Does a time shift file get created in your buffer directory when you try to enter timeshift mode? Is it growing?

Right now I'm in full time TS and there is a growing record file in the buffer directory. It's hard to tell as I did not check during the ad-hoc attempts. However, there are NO abandoned files there from those attempts so I'd judge that they were either not created at the time or were policed by the subsequent attempts. Based on prior performance with orphaned TS files after system failures I'd be inclined to believe they were not created when the ad hoc TS started.

They would have been automatically deleted shortly afterwards, so its no good checking later. You really need to check it at the time.

I just changed back to ad hoc TS. Yes, the TS file is created and it does grow over time.

The sequence of events is that the TV is playing. Entering TS causes the "Starting timeshift mode" message. The screen then blanks and redisplays with the status bar across the top and the program data across the bottom --- it is now frozen at that point, video fixed, no audio. Hitting Back/Exit will go back to the Main Menu.

Can possibly produce those logs again? I'm not sure they are the correct logs. I cant see any attempt to enter timeshift mode.

I seem to be having a similar problem - I have it set to always watch in time shift mode, and I have not had any problems since i started using GBPVR aBOUT 6 months ago. However, I just recently upgraded to 97.13 and now when i go to watch tv, the "starting timeshift mode tv" message appears for a few seconds, then the selected channel turns on and immediately freezes. The channel info appears at the bottom, and the status bar appears at the top like normal, but the audio and video are frozen. Pressing back/exit will return to the menu, and sometimes pressing channel up/down will change the channel and fix the problem. But if i just press "live tv" and wait, it will stay frozen forever.

I checked in the live tv directory and the correct file is there and growing over time.

One difference I did notice (not sure if it's important) is that the screen used to go black when the "starting timeshift mode tv" message appeared, and that would be all I could see...but now the message shows up on top of the menus...ie no black screen anymore.

I don't know which logs (if any) you may want to see, so let me know and will post them.

I'm aware of this specific problem, and have corrected it for the next release.

I uninstalled and then reinstalled everything, and I no longer have any problems. it must have been a problem with my upgrade process.

In addition to the unresolved problem with Ad-Hoc TS reported above, I'm having yet more problems with fulltime TS. When we reach the end of a program the video beomes choppy and staggers. The audio usually continues normally. This was very pronounced today when there were back to back episodes of a series, viewing the second episode was impossible and the only way to correct this was to exit and reenter.

Similarly, changing channels with TV either up or down or by direct channel number when running in fulltime TS results in the same choppy video characteristics requring an exit and reentry of TV. There have been no filter or program changes since the last set of logs reporting the fulltime tS problem earlier. I am using the ContourHC skin.
