Is there a difference between the PVR250 & PVR 150

I can get the PVR 150MCE for $65.00 and the only difference I see between the two cards is the PVR250MCE has hardware VCD support which I do not care about. I want DVD support which it has the Conexant 416 chip to do MPEG 2 enc. Any thoughts; here is a link that compares the cards:

I know Sub is working on the "ini" file I hope it works.

I dont have support going for the PVR150 yet, but should do soon. I'm betting the PVR150 will probably be a better long term purchase.

the 150 is cheaper because it's missing the hardware mpeg encoder, which takes the strain off of your CPU and RAM. notice with the 150 the minimum system requirements are higher? because your computer does all the work. the 250/350 does all the work instead of your computer.

The 150 does have a mpeg encoder, according to the Hauppauge site.

Yes the site says it has the Mpeg Encoder. Also because it's the MCE the Spec is higher if you look at the System requirements for the PVR 250 MCE it too has a higher system requirement but the PVR 250 has a much lower requirement I believe this is more of a Media Center Requirement and not the Hardware requirement.

Thanks Sub I think I will pull the trigger in this in the next couple of weeks (I need wife buy in) . I will monitor the thread on getting the INI file working. Thanks!
