The cord on the IR sensor of my PVR250 remote has a 2.5mm jack. I need to extend it a few feet but it doesn't work when I use an extesion cable with a 2.5mm jack. I know the extension cable is good so what could the problem be?

*Could the extension be too long (it's 12.5 ft)?
*Could the IR sensor use some funky wiring that only looks like a standard 2.5mm audio cable?

Thanks,
Derek

Nevermind... I just had to jiggle the cables a bit and now it works!

Hey there!

Can anyone tell me where I might get such an extension cable? I need one for the PVR150 that can support the IR and Blaster.

Thanks!

I got everything I needed from Radioshack. However I'm sure you can find it online too. Just make sure you get stereo.

I used a standard 20' headphone extension cable (with adapters) to extend the length of my IR cord and it works great. Just make sure the piece that goes into your Hauppauge has the elbow.

The first adapter I got broke off in the card. Fortunately I was able to get the piece out of the socket without causing any damage to the Tuner, however I did have to purchase a new 2.5mm to 1/8" adapter and the second time I got the elbow. Total parts in US dollars was around $25.

You can get 2 metre 2.5mm extension cables on Ebay for a couple of UKP including postage. You don't need adaptors at all then... Smile

Has anyone successfully used an extension cable for the IR Blaster/IR reciever combo cable? Seems to be a 4 part 2.5mm plug...

I've extended my cable myself. Using it all the time. Works well.

I tried to find parts for creating an extension cable, but female-type connectors for 4-pole 2.5mm jacks are impossible to find in Israel. Their almost impossible to find anywhere at all - the only type that seems to be made is one made for soldering onto a printed circuit board, with SMT-type contact. Not the easiest thing to work with.
