GBPVR send logs on its own?

You know how whenever internet explorer crashes or something crashes, there's an option for us to send a report to microsoft?

I was just wondering... maybe it'd be nice to make something like that for GBPVR? Maybe have a button that we can click where it'll automatically zip up the relevant log files and automatically (assuming you're connected to the internet) send the log files to sub? Oh, maybe it can even gather up all the relevant info like what skins, plugins, direct3d drivers, and versions of everything too so it'll help diagnose the problem easier!

Maybe even have a pop up box to write in the problem you were experiencing before you decided to send the log files.

Just a thought to help with debugging and stuff.

LOL, it's a great thought, but there's only 1 "sub" and Microsoft has what? 100xE6 employees just to sift through, identify what KIND of fault, then identify the cause, then the solutions from those logs. Imagine how snowed under the poor fellow would be!

Personally I don't think it would work simply due to the sheer volume of logs he'd be getting. I think he'd end up in a little pink room bouncing off the walls mumbling incoherent code snippets...

How about an enhancement to the web admin. A single click to zip up all the log files in a bundle with a random file name. The file would be accessible from an Internet exposed URL of the web admin, no password required and file only available by exact name. Post or PM the URL so that the files don't take space on the forum server. The biggest trick seems to be getting all the right files for Sub to look at all in one shot.

If he's not asking for one specific log, normally sub just says "send the logs" (the lot, presumably as it takes too long to type which specific ones he may or may not need if there is more than one). I just do a search on .log in gbpvr and zip the lot, ignoring the plugin log files. They're all txt files so zipped up they are compressed by huge amounts in any case.

Well this is partly why I suggested it because people usually don't know which logs to send. Not to mention there are so many different logs too. But I'm thinking of including contents of of plugin folders and versions of stuff...and even if a video decoder is installed? (if that's possible) might make things easier for Sub to diagnose a person's problem?

Let's face it, we're all about saving time and making things easy. So a simple click to generate a zip file with all the relevant files and info and sending it to Sub with a box to describe what the error was and what you were doing before would be neat. Or maybe even automatically attach files to a msg that will be posted to the forum would be neat if it's possible?

Oh well, just a suggestion to help streamline the troubleshooting process.

A folder called "Logs" would simplify the process. The whole folder can be zipped and sent.

It has been suggested before, and might already be something on sub's rather long todo list.

I was going to suggest a .bat file or something that when run gathers all the desired logs and plops them in a .zip file on your desktop ready to be posted on the forum.
