MY wish for today

I would like gbpvr stuff to be archived
from the forum and the wiki.
change the header from gbpvr to npvr(thats the new name. I have decided for you, the poll was wrong Big Grin)

Reasons : 1.so its easier to search for relevant stuff
2.new people load Npvr and dont get told off for not using the correct program or looking at the correct wiki or forum

Cheers Stu

umm, yea, the link is to npvr download, but the wiki link and forum link is to the gbpvr forum/wiki..confusing i'm sure..
the name npvr should be at least mentioned somewhere on that main page too..

I too believe for new users and some old GB-PVR users that it is all a bit confusing unless you have been a GB-PVR user who has consistently been on the forums following progress since NextPVR was released. The download link on http://www.gbpvr.com/ was recently changed to accomodate users who only looked there and hadn't even realised that NPVR was out and had replaced GB-PVR.

The GB-PVR wiki in effect is archived now, and actually that was a struggle, at the time I had to fight tooth and nail (along with McBainUK) to get a new wiki going at all, there was a lot of resistance Wink. Otherwise even now the old wiki would also contain NextPVR info, now that would be confusing Big Grin

I am sure for now Sub could also change wiki link on http://www.gbpvr.com/ to NextPVR wiki (Sub?) and we could have a notice on new wiki to point back to old wiki if looking for GBPVR stuff. That may all help a little more.

When it comes to the forums, I have tried to make a point about this over on the documentation forum

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...no-problem!

[Edit] Admittedly the name of the thread may be misleading but it started out as one point and changed into something else! [EndEdit]

but unfortunately this forum (documentation) is the LEAST visited and posted to forum on the whole forum site [Edit] You may notice at one point I actually have to answer my own posts [EndEdit] Sad

By default I would say that this is the forum (documentation) to discuss and collate any of this stuff, although 'documentation' may not be quite the right word it is the closest we have to what is under discussion here? All I can do is encourage people to make a point of visiting the documentation forum and posting ideas on it a little more often then we may be able to get some things changed through a 'common voice'?

cheers

I agree it is it a bit confusing with the references to both products. NPVR though is still in beta so surely it is too early to make the full changeover. I for one am still using GBPVR in production.
I guess at some point soon sub will release a version that he considers to be release code and then it would be nice to have a website makeover etc.

@ b00sfuk, hello Big Grin

I think the thing is really that although NextPVR still has the 'beta' tag it pretty much now is not 'beta' any more. Certainly from what I've seen/heard by reading between the lines on the forums I would suspect that even though the next release may still have 'beta' attached to the name (and maybe it won't Wink ) Sub is there now with NextPVR being full release software. Sub is quite happy for the new website to be live already it is just taking some time to put finishing touches to it. This is all good discussion, once again I would encourage everyone to spend a little more time over on the documentation forum Big Grin

cheers

I've now updated the wiki link at the top of the page to point to the new wiki. If you get chance, can you please add a link back to the old wiki for those looking for GBPVR info.

BTW, are we also able to get the left handle margin google advert added to the npvr wiki? It didnt make me lots of money, but it all helps.

Sub,

have issued a temporary notice re-directing support documentation for GB-PVR back to old wiki. This is only on main page of new wiki, this should catch all traffic from your changed links. It is only temporary until dust settles and we can make some kind of final split between the 2 softwares. I wouldn't want anything permanent on NextPVR wiki about GB-PVR.

Yup google ads is on the 'to do' list, what with getting the wiki up and running into a user friendly state and doing the new webpages it kind of got bumped down the list. Am sure your prod will get it bumped up again Wink

cheers
