Hi

Juat a short question regarding the MusicLibrary2 Plugin.

Does this plugin allow playing all music tracks from all artists held on a HDD randomly?

The std music player can shuffle an album but not the whole collection as far as I can make out.

Thank you, this will save me installing and then removing if it doesn't do the above.

but it can only play mp3's.

Unfotunately, as your music collection gets bigger you will probably end up with mostly mp3's, then OGG and perhaps even some wma files.

It can play wma, but not ogg yet - but can gbpvr play ogg?? If it can then ml2 should be able to (just wont handle the tags).

GB-PVR plays ogg files just fine, you just need to install a codec (and if it works with wmp, it works with gbpvr). Smile

And so therefore, apart from the tag reading ML2 should also play ogg files.

I can add support easily for them in Media Player can read the tags, otherwise I'll have to go find an OGG reader.

I forgot that i almost exlusively use GBPR through the MVP. I'll have to check wheather the standard music plugin that can play .ogg files on the PC will also play in on the MVP.(by transcoding it to mp3 i suppose)

ML2 doesn't see the .OGG files. I could just rename all the .OGG files as .MP3
and then i suppose i could use a program like Tag&rename to get the tag info correct(or change the musiclibrary database itself). This would allow ML2 to work on the PC but would probably screw-up the MVP.
Must try it !!

No ML2 wont see the ogg at all, since it's not a known extention (it only knows .wma and .mp3 currently).

I'll look at adding support for it.

Not sure what the MVP will do, it will probably need transcoding like a video, and I doubt that GBPVR does that.

just an update on this. The MVP with the standard music library plugin can play OGG files. I first took an album of OGG files , renamed MP3 and then scanned them in with ML2, the database has unknown in the artist/album(as it cant read the tags), i changed the database artist/album fields so that ML2 can see them, but it still didn't play. I then changed the filename back to OGG and changed the database filename to OGG as well and can now play that OGG album in ML2.

So, maybe until you are able to implement OGG support, thats if you want to of course, a workaround is to import your OGG files into the database directly, just need to get a easy way to do it?
