I'm running 0.97.13 and installed the http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/CDPlayer plugin. I can see DLL in the plugins folder but it doesn't show up in the config app.

Does this plugin still work?

I'd say 'no'. GBPVR changed to .net2 framework a couple of months ago (meaning a fairly major update to all the plugins was required too), but the plugin in question hasn't been updated since 2005.
What functionality are you wanting? Music library will play CDs as standard - and you may find other features rolled up into different plugins.
You need to make sure that any plugin you choose specifically states thet it will work with 0.97.x or .net2.

the cdplayer does work, it hasn't been upgraded to .net2 yet, but it works.

the plugin plays cd's, even if the tracks are hidden because of data-tracks. it reads the information from freedb and saves it in a database.

i will update the plugin to .net 2.0 and the new skinhelper if i get some time.

Just tried it on my 97.13 and it's showing up in config OK - so looks like it might be a different problem with your system.

@dottore sorry, I shouldn't have been so quick to guess about your plugin!!

- Play a whole cd
- Go to a particular track on a cd and play just that
- Play audio from an audio DVD
- Download track names and cover art automagically

Music library doesn't do all this. CDPlayer seemed to, but it doesn't even show as a plugin, so I'll have to wait until it's recompiled. :-(

If you are using BaseSkin/Advisor, then download the PluginSkin files and copy the directories into your skin. The CD player works fine.

i think, you may have a problem with a missing dll. something like the commongbpvrutilities.

could you post your logfiles? run the config-app, then zip up the config.exe.log and post it here.

slightly off topic, but having now installed the plugin, which audio source does this plugin use?
I'm not getting any sound playing with this plugin (I do get sound using My Music CD player) - but as I don't have either the digital or analogue audio wire connected between the drive and my sound card I'm guessing this is the issue.
Am I right? Is there an option to set how the music reaches the PC (dig/ana/IDE)?

the plugin uses the drive you've set in the config-app for cd-playback. it doesn't play the music via gbpvr, it uses mci.

i think, you get no audio because you didn't connect the drive with your sound-card. if you have an output in front of you cd-drive you could try to attach earphones, start the plugin and "hear" what happens.

do you get a track-list and freedb-informations?

Yeah, all the track info is correct and the playback time indicates that its playing - so i think it does 'work'.
I just wanted to check that it was the audio connection before I open up the computer.
thanks for the quick reply!!
