Will this computer hardware combination work?

I've been using GBPVR for about a year and it's great! However, the computer I've been using has died, and I'm thinking about replacing it with this configuration:

1) New laptop with S-Video Out for connection to the TV
2) WinTV USB2 for tuner and channel changing remote control
3) External disk drive (USB2) for video storage

I was going to do a MVP and place the computer in the basement, but I figure that if I place the laptop (which is relatively quiet) in the TV cabinet, it'll make things easier if I want to tweak it.

Any comments? Thanks!

Let me reframe the question. Has anyone had any problems with using GBPVR with a laptop and Hauppaugh's WinTV USB2?

I cant see any reason it wouldnt work.

Do you mean winttv pvr usb2 or winttv usb2 as you stated as the later is not supported by gbpvr as its a software encoder card.

Ah, good point. It needs to be either the "Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2" or "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2", not the the "Hauppauge WinTV USB2". Confusing names...
