I remember an advice: don't use the pci-slot next to the videocard, it seems to share the same irq (often??, I don't know).
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Do you have another PC you can try it in? - Otherwise I think I'd go and exhange it and try again..

I may be way off target here - but whats with all this talk of IRQs? I haven't heard hide nor hair of IRQ assignment since Windows 98. 2000 and XP don't use IRQs per say, they 'software' manage the hardware interupts.
If an XP install is throwing up hardware assignment warnings, then I'd say there's a much more fundamental problem than which slot the card is in!! I's also say that manually messing around with IRQs is likely to make things worse, not better.
One way to determine if the PVR card is buggered would be to buy some really cheap PCI card (network, USB whatever) for a few dollars. If Windows throws a wobbly when you fit this then you can count out the PVR as an issue. If it installs the card without problem then it probably is the PVR.
Finally there are a few BIOS settings that could cause a problems here - but a brand name Dell should work fine with everything left well alone. If you're confident enough you could try putting the BIOS back to default settings by unplugging everything and removing the backup battery for 5 mins. When you boot up again F1 (normally) to load default settings should put your system to it's most basic 'everything should work' state. The downside maybe that you need to know what you can then alter to bring it back up to factory spec again.

Mhm, i didn't read all, too much text ^^;

Ok, so you have a brandnew PVR-500. And you downloaded the both files from Hauppauge.

Please don't forget, that they are Update Drivers only(!) You have first to download the full CD-Driver Download for the PVR 150/500 and install these drivers, before you install anything else.

Before this you won't progress with the using of the PVR-500.

Remove all previous drivers now. Use HWCLEAR for this and reboot.

First download and install this one:
http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/de/pvr2/h...111pp2.exe

After a complete install, reboot and recognizing, you can "update" the driver following:
http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._24103.exe

http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._23257.exe

http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._23290.exe

So, that should be enough. Please make it in this order, step-by-step, including reboots.

EDIT: So, now i readed the whole Thread. Please be so kind and download "Everest Home Edition 2.2" (it's freeware) http://cgi.zdnet.de/c/?s=41&t=http%3A%2F..._id=de011X, install this and run it. Wait a few seconds and have a look for your mainboard/chipset.

Please tell us, which Mainboard and chipset are used.

Mhm, i cannot find any incompability with your rockstable chipset.

Have you tested this: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/faq/suppo...350.html#3

and this?
http://www.hauppauge.de/files/pvr150_500_start=0.zip

already? I know, that these are for Errorcode 10, but the could help in your case too.

But try these first then, if you have followed my installation guide above.
