I just installed my Hauppauge PVR 150MCE on my system. I've installed the driver for the card, downloaded from Hauppauges website. There, they said that I should install the following additional software:

WinTV2000
WinTV Video Decoder
IR Blaster Setup
IR Remote Configuration

Are these additional software neccessary?

Thanks,

Rocky

WinTV Decoder is only needed if you do not already have an MPEG-2 decoder. If you have something like PowerDVD or WinDVD then you should already be set.

WinTV2000 is not needed as GBPVR is replacing it.

The IR Blaster program is probably not necessary because I don't believe the MCE comes with one. I may be wrong on that, though.

The IR remote software will be needed if you've got a Hauppauge remote control and want to use it in GBPVR.

Ok so no WinTV 2000 on my build. However, my Hauppauge PVR 150MCE comes with the MCE Remote and IR Blaster. The IR Blaster shows up as a Microsoft ehome device in device manager. Everytime I restart the pc, I get this error message:
Failed to initialize remote control

I tried using another driver, but it just won't allow me to chance it.
When I uninstall the IR Blaster software and Remote Control program, then the remote doesn't function properly in GB-PVR. Most of the functions of the button seems to be missing.

I don't understand it. Any suggestions?

You don't need (or want) the Hauppauge IR stuff. That's probably what's causing that error. You should uninstall it (the IR stuff). That IR unit uses the Microsoft eHome drivers. If you see it in the Device Manager you're all set. You need to set GB-PVR to use the MCE Remote in the 'Remote Control Type' box on the 'DVD & Remote' tab of the GB-PVR config. The only Hauppauge thing you need is the driver for the card and maybe the decoder, if you don't already have one.
