Sub didn't indicate that was a problem. What about your video decoder settings or ffdshow post processing ? This could be forcing yuv12 software mode.

Got it, typo in config.xml. Now I'll have a play with YUV Mixing Mode.
Thanks Daza and Sub for your help.

I tried YUV Mixing mode with my ATI 9550 in the hope that it would free-up the GPU to overcome my jumpy/skipping picture problem @1280x768 resolution, but unfortunately I saw no change (still skipping). Also the picture didn't seem as sharp.
I also tried 'decimate by 2', but the skipping was still occuring. I think the problem with high resolutions on my 9550 is the 64bit memory bottleneck. I've gone back to normal, and re-installed DX9b quartz.dll

Already suggested that in this thread but not sure if it's been tried.

Thanks for the thought, but I've proven the problem to the video card, and implemented a satisfactory workaround until I upgrade. My post was really an 'FYI' to Daza, but thanks anyway.

What an amazing wealth of knowledge in this thread! The best ive ever read by a mile on this subject.
I'm gonna fire off a question to CSY, as I came here with the same fuzzy picture problems. I have implemented as many of your suggestions as I could, but there is one thing that baffles and bothers me. First, some specs: XP w/sp2 + every update as of this writing. 3400+ athlon 64 1 gig of ram AGP Nvidia 6600GT Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250 91.31 foreware drivers. 5.11 Platform drivers. 1.02-223 PureVideo decoder Hauppauge version 1.18 and middleware version 2.3 drivers 9713 GBPVR Ok, when I start GBPVR and live tv, i click on the system tray icon for the purevideo settings, and its set to: anamorphic/raw aspect hardware acceleration smart deinterlacing VMR default Prefer VMR 9 However, after I start GBPVR and live tv, then go to GBPVR config -> playback -> video decoder settings, (im using the NVIDIA Video Decoder), everything is the same as above EXCEPT the de-interlace mode, which is set to "Best Available" After reading your outstanding help, from what I gather, this setting is wrong. The other 2 choices are Display Fields Seperatley and Combine Fields Why is this setting different, depending on where I look? Thanks again for your help! In GBPVR,

I don't know why this is happening, but these are setting options only, and don't reflect what is actually being used, so ignore that method of configuring Purevideo You definately do require "VMR Default", and you should also select "automatic" deinterlacing control (smart is not supported on 1.02-223 even though it is shown as an option). I recommend opening the Purevideo icon while GBPVR playback is running (as you have previously done) and with VMR Default selected, then CLICK OK TO APPLY THAT SETTING. The Purevideo properties may show VMR Default as the default option but it will not be used untill you actually click OK, then exit playback and restart playback. Once the VMR Default setting is applied, DO NOT go back into GBPVR video decoder settings and click ok on Best Available because this will undo the VMR Default setting. Alternatively you can apply a registry patch to ensure you have VMR Default configured http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=18464 If you are still having problems, then it may be related to how your video card is linked to your TV/display and any scaling being used. If you supply more info on this then I may be able to help further.

Thank you for the reply.
I am running svid out via the dongle to a 25 inch tv. My desktop resolution is 800x600. I tried 720x480, but it made it so that I couldnt see any of the taskbar icons, and the GBPVR overlay stuff was hanging off the bottom of the screen, so I switched back to 800x600. I did as you said, clicking "ok" on the task bar settings for the Nvidia decoder. I further went ahead and applied your reg hack, checked the GBPVR decoder settings, and it remains unchanged. "Best Available" is still being used for deinterlacing. I rebooted for good measure, rechecked, and the same. Maybe I shouldnt be fussy, as the picture i'm seeing now is the best ive ever seen in my trials with pvr software of all kinds, on all platforms. But im rather a perfectionist, and if I can make it better, I'm all for it |
