i have an HP zd7000 notebook and I was wondering if the emuzed Bali external USB PVR will work with gbpvr? i have MCE but the dvr-ms format is inconvenient. and i was also wondering if gbpvr will get more out of the tuner than MCE proprietary software?

GB-PVR *may* work with this device. You'd need to be willing to try a few things.

Effectively a new section would need to be added to the direct.ini file, with names that are appropriate for this device.

Here in some information from previous discussion about setting up new devices:

http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...direct.ini
http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...direct.ini

If you do decide to give it a go, I'm happy to help you through it. Without access one of these devices its really impossible for me to do it myself.

Thanks.

I checked out the direct.ini file and the pin names don't match up with the Maui 2S (excluding the PCTV stuff which is obvious). Sub, I'm going to post some pics of what I got going in graphedit for the Maui 2S. Let me know if you need more info one I repost.

Thanks in advance. I would love to get this app going on my card. ####.. It's worth paying for.

hey sub, or anyone

sorry about posting twice, i kinda forgot that I downloaded GBPVR and posted to the forum, probably because hotmail deleted the notice, grrrr. Anyways:

I set up the direct.ini file with the PCTV settings but changed the name to HPUsbPVR because thats what the drivers is called, it might be HP USB PVR, but when I enter all this and change everything in the Config prog. I start up GBPVR and it says it cannot communicate with the Recording service, even though its sitting right there in the task bar. When I move my mouse over the GB icon, it says "Sleeping."

So is this because of bad settings in the direct.ini or is it something with the service. I do have XP Pro SP2 and the Firewall is running, just in case that matters.

thanx

It almost certainly is related to bad settings in the direct.ini. Can you try again, then post the contents of your gbpvrrecordingservice.exe-native.log file. This should contain some clues which filter/pin names are incorrect.

yep here it is, it sounds like gbpvr found the device but some other settings were wrong.

It looks like "HPUsbPVR Crossbar" and "HPUsbPVR Device" are the incorrect names. You can check these names using GraphEdit. They must be exactly the same.
